  • Panthers Out of Gas Late in LA, Lose in regulation 2-1

    23/01/2025 Duración: 34min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Eddie Garcia(@eddieonfox) of Locked On LA Kings to break down the Panthers 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings were in control in the first period where the Panthers got into early penalty trouble, but once again, staying out of the box the rest of the game gave them an opportunity to play a tight hockey game. The Panthers prevented the Kings from getting to the dirty area in the first 40 minutes. Although the Panthers broke their four-game drought of not scoring on the power play, it was the only scoring that they got on the night against the NHL's best defensive team. LA controlled the play having 13 straight shots on goal, which ended up in two goals to completely flip the game and give the Panthers their fifth straight loss in Los Angeles. The two give their standouts on Wednesday night, the moment where they knew the game was decided, and also give the latest news of a defenseman from each team cl

  • Multiple Drought's Broken in Anaheim as the Panthers Win Comfortably over the Ducks

    22/01/2025 Duración: 39min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) for another edition of Winans Wednesday. The two recap the Panthers' 5-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks, where both teams combined for five goals in the first period. After the Panthers failed to extend their lead in the second period with three power play chances (including 43 seconds up 5-on-3), the Cats scored 19 seconds into the third period and were able to play their shutdown style the rest of the way. The top line set the tone for the team, resulting in the first goal, and two Panthers broke out of their respective goals droughts in Carter Verhaeghe (six games) and Sam Bennett (20 games). 11 of the 18 skaters got a point on the night, and each of the four lines got on the board. The guys give their three stars of the game, when they thought the game was won, and preview Wednesday night's game as the Panthers will head north to Los Angeles to take on the Kings. We discuss all of th

  • Spencer Knight and Depth Pick the Panthers Up after Reinhart's Game-Misconduct, Shutout Anaheim 3-0

    20/01/2025 Duración: 41min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Doug Stolhand the show to recap the 3-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks. The Panthers had to pick it up after Sam Reinhart received a 5-minute major and a game misconduct after his knee-on-knee hit on Isac Lundestrom, with the home-and-home Reinhart will have to answer the call when the teams meet again on Tuesday. Panthers shut it down in the third period where eliminating the Ducks speed in the neutral zone resulted in an insurance goal by Anton Lundell. Jesper Boqvist struck again as he now has a career high in goals with 11. The two discuss the Ducks build and their mix of veterans with young blue liners, including former Panther Radko Gudas and how much his leadership has impacted them. They also give their thoughts on Frank Vatrano's new deal with the Ducks, and how that could help them going forward. Doug also provides what he expects, and what he would like to see from the Ducks at the deadline in just over

  • Red Wings Special Teams Stayed Hot in SFL As The Panthers Up-And-Down start to 2025 Continues

    17/01/2025 Duración: 36min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Nich Fairbanks(@prudentia0) for another edition of Fairbanks Friday. The two break down the Panthers' 5-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, which was the first regulation win for them over Florida in almost Four years. It was a special teams demolition for the Detroit Red Wings as they were able to convert on of their four chances, which all happened just after the midway point of the second period. Although the Cats tied it twice quickly and had six more minutes of offensive zone time, the untimely penalties were too much to overcome. Sergei Bobrovsky got chased for the second time this season, but now it's three games in a row of giving up four goals. Bobrovsky previously went seven straight with giving up less than four. At this point it's a trend with the goal droughts getting to double digit games. The Penalty kill might have over 10 short handed goals, but have they started to cheat for offense? The guys giv

  • Panthers Are Gonna Continue To Get The Oppositions' Best, How Well Will They Counter?

    16/01/2025 Duración: 34min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Alex Baumgartner(@ABaumgartner91) to the show to discuss the latest on the Panthers up-and-down start to the new year. Will adding Mackie Samoskevich to Bennett's wing help break Bennett out of his slump? Spencer Knight spoke about his time in the AHL and how it's prepared him for his most recent success between the pipes. There are a number of defensemen who the Panthers could bring in via a trade, and one who is currently a free agent. Which ones could fit best with Florida? The Cats will be back in town for a quick two-game home stand, beginning with the Detroit Red Wings, who are on a 7-2-0 stretch since bringing in Head Coach Todd McLellan into the mix, and with the Detroit power play doing most of the heavy work, is it sustainable as a team who finds themselves four points back of the final spot? We discuss all of this and more on today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast: Your Team, Every

  • Panthers Grind Out Low-Event Game in NJ, win 2-1 in a Shootout

    15/01/2025 Duración: 39min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Winans for another edition of Winans Wednesday. The two break down the Panthers' 2-1 shootout win over the New Jersey Devils from the Prudential Center on Tuesday night. A scoreless game through the first 40 minutes where the Panthers took care of the NZ. Although the Panthers struggled to get to the net front, they were still able to generate plenty of speed on the night. Paul Maurice juggled the lines, but quickly put Jesper Boqvist back with Anton Lundell, and it paid off getting the first goal of the game 41 seconds into the third period. Although New Jersey scored less than two minutes later, the game picked up when Matthew Tkachuk placed a hit on Nico Hischer (which resulted in a Devils PP). Spencer Knight came up big on the evening, saving 26/27, while also stopping Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt in the shootout, while Aleksander Barkov and Anton Lundell scored some beauties. The guys give their thre

  • Panthers Puck Management and Penalty Trouble Costly in Philly, Spoils Reinhart's Two-Goal Night

    14/01/2025 Duración: 32min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) broke down the Panthers' 4-3 loss to the Flyers, where the Cats went into the second period with a two-goal lead. Flyers tilted the ice in the second period and slowly but surely, it ended up in the lead evaporating. Philadelphia took away the Panthers time and space, and play around the crease was not at their best, as the majority of the scoring came up the Flyers getting to the net front. Sam Reinhart scored two special teams goals on the night, including a highlight reel goal short-handed, but it was spoiled as Panthers lost their first game in regulation when leading after 40 minutes in over two years. We give our three duds of the game, when we thought the game was lost, and preview tonight's game in New Jersey. • Panthers Had One of their Best Performances Saturday in a Loss. Ekblad To Miss More Time

    13/01/2025 Duración: 33min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down Saturday's 4-3 loss for the Panthers against the Boston Bruins at home. The Cats outshot Boston by more than double, but Jeremy Swayman backstopped the Bruins to a win. Although the Cats gave up two goals on the PK, they went three straight kills without allowing a shot, they limited the breakaway chances, and although they never had a lead, they consistently pushed and had Boston on their heels, even going into the final frame. It manifested in a goal by Sam Reinhart with less than 2 seconds less in regulation to give the Panthers a point, the Cats did have force over time, but due to a penalty taken, the Bruins went on the power play and converted to get the extra point on a block that ended up in the back of their net. The Cats now shift their focus to the Flyers for the third and final matchup of the season, where it'll begin a stretch of eight games in 14 nights. We discuss all of this and more

    10/01/2025 Duración: 37min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Nich Fairbanks(@prudentia0) to the show to discuss how impactful Jesper Boqvist has been lately, with his goals coming after the first 20 minutes. Panthers goal differential tells a bit of a story to how the team is dealing with adversity through 42 games. • Panthers Win First Game in Utah! Will Host the 2026 Winter Classic!

    09/01/2025 Duración: 38min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jackson Holzer(@JacksonH_52) to the show to break down the Panthers' 4-1 win over the Utah Hockey Club. The Panthers reunited with Kevin Stenlund the night before as he got his Stanley Cup ring. As far as the game went, the Cats played a controlled game as they started to get it going after a TV timeout in which Paul Maurice probably had the quote of the season. Utah had 17 shots in the second period, but we did not consider many of their chances in the high quality category, and another Panther broke out of their goal drought, Wednesday night was Sam Reinhart's turn. With his PPG in the second period, he is now second in franchise history with 67. The Cats scored early in the third period to separate themselves as Jesper Boqvist gave the Panthers the lead after Utah looked a bit lost in their own end after a broken stick. Florida added two ENG's (one of them by Boqvist) to put the game away. The two give their

    08/01/2025 Duración: 37min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) for another edition of Winans Wednesday. The two provide a wellness check on the Panthers through 41 games in 2024-25. The Panther offensive numbers are just about the same, but the goals against at 5-on-5 have taken the biggest of dips. Although the Panthers scoring has struggled lately, there are signs from the last calendar month that the goaltending is trending in the right direction. Carter Verhaeghe has been the Panther that has regressed the most, but could him scoring while on a line with Anton Lundell continue into the second half of the season and break out of his first half funk? Lastly, we preview tonight' game between the Cats and the Utah Hockey Club (formerly the Arizona Coyotes) on Wednesday night as Kevin Stenlund will be on the opposite side of the ice. Stenlund has taken his value from last years Cup run and hoping to help a young team take that next step in their

Sergei Bobrovsky kept the Panthers in it until Colorado took the lead in the third period. Carter Verhaeghe ended his goal drought getting his first goal in eight games. The Panthers had a hard time getting past Mackienzie Blackwood as they were able to keep up with the stars of Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar. • Panthers Cap Off The Calendar Year 2024 Defeating the Spiraling Rangers 5-3

    31/12/2024 Duración: 35min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) broke down the Panthers' win over the New York Rangers 5-3, which was another response by the team after a lackluster performance in the previous game against Montreal. The Panthers scored their goals in similar ways on Monday night where it was the Rangers inability to clear the puck and getting traffic around Igor Shesterkin to create off second chances. It was the second straight game without Niko Mikkola, and the forward lines were shifted as Eetu Luostarinen was placed on Sam Bennett's line and Carter Verhaeghe was on Anton Lundell's wing. The gamble by Paul Maurice sparked the Cats offense on the evening early on. Although had multiple leads, they never found themselves trailing on Monday night as Jesper Boqvist scored two go-ahead goals, including the game winner that was assisted by his brother Adam Boqvist. 24/12/2024 Duración: 36min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Alex Krutchik(@AlexKrutchikFOF) to break down last night's 4-0 Panthers loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning from Sunrise. Game was over after the first 17 minutes where the Lightning got their chances off the rush. The main story of Monday night was a knee-on-knee collision from Nikita Kucherov on Matthew Tkachuk just before the first period ended. Kucherov was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct. Tkachuk was able to return to the game 2 minutes into the second period, but that was not the first of the Panthers players getting banged up as Carter Verhaeghe and AJ Greer were hobbled after delivered some hard checks. Niko Mikkola also missed the entirety of the third period on Monday. What mattered was not the final score, but the Cats going into the holiday break with as little injuries as possible as they still lead the division at 22-12-2.
