  • From the Podium: Quotes from Seahawks Training Camp Day 7 and Mock Game

    10/08/2022 Duración: 26min

Ahead of Saturday's mock game, we heard of Tyler Lockett taking advantage of a new offseason career in real estate and his thoughts on the new wide receiver coach. Rookie Boye Mafe talked about the feeling of getting back into pads ahead of the game. Pete Carroll offered up some insight on Mafe and some of the other newest Seahawks and his latest thoughts on the quarterback competition.  In the mock game, Tariq Woolen gave up the only passing touchdown of the game. However, he was in position to make the play and it took some incredible concentration (and maybe some luck) by Cody Thompson to come up with the catch. Geno Smith and Drew Lock offered up their reflections on their performances in the mock game. Support the show Get in the Flock! • Live & UnCatfished: Seahawks Mock Game Reaction

    09/08/2022 Duración: 33min

The Seahawks played a mock game on Saturday and the reports coming out of the game were that Drew Lock outperformed Geno Smith. Yet the performance wasn't worthy enough for Lock to get more time with the first team offense the following day. A couple players on defense stood out among the reports and how should the Seahawks approach special teams with the potential for improving field position. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Post 'Go Hawks' in the comments on YouTube for the latest

  • 379: Seattle Seahawks 2022 Season Expectations

    05/08/2022 Duración: 01h38min

The 2022 season has arrived! However, with the departure of Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner in the offseason, the expectations for this team have decreased significantly. But will this team finish among the worst in the NFL even with the loss of talent? We'll talk about who has the lead for the starting QB job as training camp gets underway and how the coaching staff should approach the competition. No matter who starts behind center, can the passing game be effective enough to allow the running game to be productive? Considering the offseason changes made to the team, there are greater expectations for the defense to improve. But what position group does the success of the entire team rest upon? Is it the defensive line that lost three of their top pass rushers from last season? The linebacker group now that Bobby Wagner has left? Or is it the secondary with the strength at safety, but questions at corner? We also take a look at some of the latest news around the NFC West as Trey Lance was named starter for

  • From the podium: Seahawks QBs talk competition for starting job

    04/08/2022 Duración: 14min

Quotes from days 3 & 4 of training camp. We heard from both quarterbacks competing for the starting job as Geno Smith gave his thoughts on the offensive line and Drew Lock spoke about his offseason work with DK Metcalf. Darrell Taylor talked about the areas of his game that he needs to improve on and about his teammates on the defensive line. Defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt talked about the development of the starting inside linebackers.  Episode 379 is next up! Support the show Get in the Flock! • From the podium: DK Metcalf explains why he wanted to stay in Seattle

    02/08/2022 Duración: 16min

On Thursday last week, DK Metcalf agreed to a 3-year contract extension to stay with the Seattle Seahawks. But based on why he wanted to stay in Seattle, does that mean we can expect an even longer Seahawks career for DK? After the deal was inked, head coach Pete Carroll, general manager John Schneider, and DK sat down with reporters to talk about the journey to this point and expectations ahead for the standout receiver. 01/08/2022 Duración: 23min

Looking back at Wednesday and Thursday last week, the first two days of training camp where coach Pete Carroll and Seahawks players spoke to the media. Jordyn Brooks talked about the value of having his first full offseason program since joining the team and Rashaad Penny reacted to the announcement of Chris Carson's retirement. Pete Carroll had some observations about the quarterback competition on the first day and talked about the excitement he has around his two rookie corners. Noah Fant says Seahawks fans are going to take note of Drew Lock's arm talent once we get a chance to see him play this preseason. Support the show Get in the Flock! • 378: Los Angeles Rams - Know Your Rival 2022

    26/07/2022 Duración: 01h30min

In the final week of our Know Your Rival series for 2022, we take our time trying to work up the interest in talking about this particular rival. The Los Angeles Rams caught so many big breaks throughout the post-season last year that it still is difficult to talk about this upcoming year without thinking back to the previous season. Plus, we have to consider that they should earn a similar curse for signing our future Hall of Fame linebacker. Not only did the Rams pay a former Seahawks star, they paid just about everyone who was primarily responsible for the big year last season. Matt Stafford, Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp all got paid this offseason. We discuss which contract has the bigger chance to ultimately hurt the franchise. One could argue, though, that those contracts are already hurting the team and their chances at a possible repeat. Losing solid starters on the offensive line, defensive line, in the secondary and on special teams all have the ability to close whatever margin that allowed them to

  • 377: San Francisco 49ers - Know Your Rival 2022

    19/07/2022 Duración: 01h20min

The Seattle Seahawks dominance over the 49ers is not a recent phenomenon. Seattle has owned the Niners since coming into the division in 2002. Although, their stake in ownership really didn't begin until the 2003 season. Since that time, they've beaten the Niners twice in a season on 11 occasions (compared to the 3 years for their rival). One thing the Niners have going for them is a very talented front seven on defense. However, they have similar questions as the Seahawks with regard to offensive line and cornerback. Much like Seattle, the Niners have questions of their own at quarterback. One big one in particular: Why is Handsome Jimmy still on their roster? Is it because of reports of Trey Lance arm fatigue? Is it because the organization feels they're in a Super Bowl window and don't want to risk handing the keys to an unproven quarterback? When the Chiefs were ready to move on from Alex Smith, a trade was in place even before free agency started that offseason. Would Seattle be a possible destination to

  • 376: Arizona Cardinals - Know Your Rival 2022

    08/07/2022 Duración: 01h22min

The Arizona Cardinals offseason has been filled with drama. Kyler Murray made it clear that he wants a new contract, starting center Rodney Hudson is threatening retirement, and DeAndre Hopkins was suspended for violating the PED rules. Not to mention that tragedy even struck the organization this past May. All of this endangers a historic pattern that says the Cardinals will finish first in the division this season. We take a look at the strengths and weaknesses of the Cardinals roster, go through their 2022 schedule and make a prediction for their final record, and look at how much cap space they have to attempt to improve any areas of the roster where they could use help. Also, we discuss some quarterback news. Baker Mayfield has been traded to the Carolina Panthers ending the speculation that he could supplant Drew Lock or Geno Smith in Seattle. Before that move, Lock was trending on Twitter after a Seahawks fan took on the sport of Tennis. The Seahawks get called out in Do Better along with an article su

  • 375: Drew Lock's chance to be a HOF QB is at four percent

    25/06/2022 Duración: 56min

If the Seahawks don't make a move toward another starting quarterback before the start of the season, Drew Lock would be the quarterback who has the greater chance for potential upside. Geno Smith is a fine player, but Lock has the higher ceiling. Just how high is the ceiling though? We talk about one potential Hall of Fame quarterback whose early career compares similarly to Lock. This particular quarterback didn't have a ton of success with his first team, but went on to have an outstanding career. In Seahawks news, it was apparently Russell Wilson who pushed for Brian Schottenheimer to get fired. Brian Mone signed an extension with the Seahawks and we say goodbye to a Canadian lineman who was an undrafted free agent with the team. The Seattle Seahawks and some of their fans get called out in the Do Better segment. Better at Life honors go to the Cleveland Browns organization for taking the offseason spotlight away from the Seahawks QB situation and to Doug Farrar for making us feel just a little bit better

  • 374: The Seahawks and the NFL's worst offseason (according to ESPN)

    13/06/2022 Duración: 01h35min

The Seahawks have been holding OTAs and mandatory minicamp over the past couple weeks and one notable player who is absent is wide receiver DK Metcalf. Is the team close to signing the former second round pick to a long-term deal? Would it be better to wait and pay DK to see if he has a subpar season? It may be that there is another good reason for the team to wait on before solidifying the deal (but not for too long). ESPN's Bill Barnwell recently released his rankings of best to worst teams considering how they've approached the offseason. The Broncos got the top spot by trading for Russell Wilson and that same move landed on the bottom. But when you look at another team Barwell had in the top 5, are the Seahawks really that far off from being in a similar position soon? In the second half of the show, we talk about a former Seahawks player who is retiring with a record that will stick in the record books. General Manager John Schneider was on a recently released podcast where he discussed a move that he'll

  • 373: Seahawks in a coal mine (indicators for success/failure)

    28/05/2022 Duración: 01h31min

Organized team activities (OTAs) started for the Seahawks this past week. It's voluntary for the players to attend and participate, but there are some key takeaways that we pulled from the player interviews as well as the first injury announcement of a guy we hope to be a key player in the 2022 season. In the news, the Seahawks waived one rookie quarterback from the roster and there were several reports about the future of the franchise as the team will ultimately be sold "soon." With changes coming to the defensive side of the ball, Clint Hurtt was on Seattle radio to discuss some of the more notable changes from a strategic standpoint. How concerned are we about the state of the defense going into the season and its ability to impact the team's performance. We also get into the thought behind the various players who would be the "canary in a coal mine" when it comes to indicating the team's ultimate failure or success. We talk about players on each side of the ball that if they have a big season, it could m

  • Advantages and disadvantages in the Seahawks 2022 schedule, and introducing PNW Prop Stars

    23/05/2022 Duración: 56min

As has become an annual tradition, Dave Bloomquist (a.k.a. Hong Kong Hawk) joins the show as a long-time member of the Flock to break down the Seattle Seahawks schedule release. Where do the Seahawks have some advantages within the schedule and where are the disadvantages? Early on, Seattle faces a very heavy road schedule while the second half becomes somewhat more favorable for travel. Plus, a look at the Rams schedule and where they have an overlooked advantage before playing Seahawks. The second half of the episode is an introduction to a new show coming in the fall with Clinton Bonner and Wilson Conn as they'll be talking some of the betting lines and prop bets surrounding the Seahawks. The experts may say never bet on your team, but maybe there are some cases where fans know their team better than some of the experts.  Support the show Get in the Flock! • 372: Seattle Seahawks 2022 Draft Recap

    12/05/2022 Duración: 02h11s

It was an atypical draft year for the Seattle Seahawks in many ways. First, they had a top 10 pick for the first time since 2010. Second, they didn't trade out of their first pick (partly because they didn't need to considering they had back-to-back picks in the second round). Third, they took players that we actually had discussed leading up to the draft in positions relative to where most people considered the players to be available. Most important to their draft strategy is that they addressed the trenches with their first two picks. By doing so, should that have allowed them the luxury to address other areas with the picks that followed? We discuss running back Ken Walker and some of the reactions from around the league (including Pete Prisco). Russell Wilson even got in on some of the draft night excitement as we play his "call from the Broncos" as he "was selected." The 2022 NFL schedule releases this week, but the news about one of the Seahawks matchups has already been announced. Seattle will head to

  • 2022 NFL Draft Reaction with Rob Staton of Seahawks Draft Blog

    01/05/2022 Duración: 38min

Rob Staton of Seahawks Draft Blog is back on the show and offering up his thoughts on the 2022 Seahawks Draft Class. The players in the class include: Round 1: Charles Cross, OT Round 2: Boye Mafe, EDGE Round 2: Ken Walker III, RB Round 3: Abraham Lucas, OT Round 4: Coby Bryant, CB Round 5: Tariq Woolen, CB Round 5: Tyreke Smith, EDGE Round 7: Bo Melton, WR Round 7: Dareke Young, WR We talk about each of the picks, the value of taking running back early in the second round, and how the Seahawks approach seemed to be different than in previous years. Did the Seahawks make a mistake by not taking a quarterback in this draft? Were there any other positions they missed out on? Rob closes by offering up a couple of names at QB to look for in next year's draft. Support the show Get in the Flock! • 371: Position groups to avoid in Seahawks 2022 Draft, Geno contract drama

    21/04/2022 Duración: 01h25min

Geno Smith has signed a deal to stay with the Seahawks for 2022, but it wasn't without drama this week. Before the signing was announced, Baker Mayfield was interviewed on a podcast and said that he thinks that the Seahawks could be a possible landing spot for him. Does the Geno signing change things? We rank the different factors that Geno, Baker and Drew Lock all bring to the team. The NFL Draft is less than a week away. Which position group (or groups) do we light up the torches and storm the VMAC if they decide to take a player at that position. To help illustrate why taking the best available quarterback near the top of the first round could be a huge mistake, we look back to the 2011 draft class and three quarterbacks that went in the Top 12. In the second half of the show, one Do Better goes to a writer covering the Broncos who believes the starting point for a new deal is closer to the deal Derek Carr signed for than the deal that Deshawn Watson signed. Bruce Arians gets called out for comments he mad

  • 370: Hawkpocalypse 2.0 and the Let's Ride Curse

    11/04/2022 Duración: 01h43min

Russell Wilson has been traded to the Denver Broncos, Bobby Wagner has signed with the Los Angeles Rams and there are multiple Seahawks players who have gone to the Pro Bowl who seem unlikely to return to the team. The second Hawkpocalypse of the Pete Carroll and John Schneider tenure is upon us. Both Wilson and Wagner had their introductory press conferences in the past couple weeks, and we check in on each of them to get more information about their departure. We also learn that Russell Wilson's new head coach is a huge Wilson fanboy and based on everything we're hearing, this move could lead to the Broncos and Wilson being cursed by the move. Bobby Wagner says he doesn't have any hate in his heart for the team, but he was bothered by John Schneider's explanation regarding why he didn't hear directly from the team about his impending release. Are there more big moves on the horizon for the team? DK Metcalf may eat a lot of candy and still have perfect abs, but even that can't make us dislike him enough to t
