  • EP. 142 Kate Field on 250 Days of Fishing in One Year and More!

    28/07/2020 Duración: 43min

Don't you love it when everything just comes together? I found myself in a jam recently when I suddenly realized I didn't have any more episodes in the can for the next show. I've got an extensive list of possible guests that is ever-growing. So, I pulled it up and started going through it. Kate Field immediately popped out to me. I remembered seeing on Facebook that she recently had a birthday AND she met her goal of fishing 250 days in a year. Perfect! So I sent her a message, knowing she's incredibly busy with working full time, traveling to kayak fishing tournaments, and not to mention producing all those awesome videos for her YouTube Channel. I thought it was worth a shot anyway. I asked if she happened to have any time available the next day for a phone interview.  As it turns out, Kate was going to be driving from Ohio making her way to Texas the next day and she just so happened to be driving through Nashville! Say what?! So of course I invited her to swing by the houseboat. We set up a taco bar for

It's always fun getting a chance to be featured on other podcasts. Last July I had a fun opportunity to be a guest on the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency's show called Wildcast. It's a TV show as well as an audio podcast. What was so fun about it was I had them come out to the lake and film right on my Qwest Pontoon! I thought it would be fun to share it with you all here on The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast! They appropriately titled the episode "On a Pontoon."  This week the Woman Angler and Adventurer, Angie Scott, invites us aboard her new Qwest pontoon. Most recently, she released her debut solo album called "Jamie." With her European tour being postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Brittany's been hanging out in Nashville, TN and I was able to get a few minutes to chat with her about one of her other big passions...and that's fishing!  She grew up fishing with her dad down in Alabama and she's carried that passion with her into adulthood. After trying to land trout on Marrowbone Lake outside of Nashville, Brittany was inspired to take up fly fishing. So she booked a lesson with local Fly Fishing instructor, Susan Thrasher. (You may remember Susan from Episode 136.) She fell in love with the fly cast...she does it all!  When on tour, Brittany jumps at the opportunity to find some local water and fish during downtime. She's been on lots of great fishing adventures over the years and has even inspi

    09/06/2020 Duración: 34min

Imagine if you had access to the largest fleet of boats in NORTH AMERICA? To me, that would mean you have the freedom to enjoy life! That's what Freedom Boat Club membership is all about. On this week's episode of The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast, I visit with brand new Freedom Boat Club member and avid angler Lesley Smith. Lesley and her husband recently joined Freedom Boat Club in San Diego so they could take advantage of the two local clubs and go out on a boat and fish to their heart's content. But wait, there's more! The beauty of being a Freedom Boat Club member means they can travel throughout North America and make boat reservations at the well over 200 other club locations. When you consider the costs of boat ownership- pulling a trailer, maintenance, cleaning, storage, time, etc., etc., etc., membership in the club quickly becomes a no-brainer for some. On top of that, Freedom Boat Club provides unlimited training by U.S.C.G. Licensed Captains which is a huge benefit, especially if you're b

  • EP. 133 Cat Fishing 101 with Whisker Seeker Tackle's Amy Hansen

    26/05/2020 Duración: 28min

This past February I had the opportunity to attend the Catfish Conference in Louisville, KY. This was my first time, and I couldn't believe the turnout. It hit me then and there that catfishing is a whole subset of the fishing industry in and of itself. People in attendance were die hard!  I got to sneak in a quick chat with my guest today on this week's episode of The Woman Angler & Adventurer, Amy Hansen from Whisker Seeker tackle. Though, she and her husband Troy were absolutely slammed working the Whisker Seeker space so we didn't get a chance to talk as much as we planned.  Thanks to technology, I was finally able to sit down and record a conversation with you via my iPhone and my Zoom H6 field recorder, a new setup I've been extremely impressed with! I'm sharing that conversation with you today. Amy and I talk all things catfishing from blue cats, to channels, to flatheads, and much more! If you've not tried it, Amy gives suggestions on her favorite set up and rig for someone just getting started. I

One video, in particular, went viral with a reach of over 8 million! It was a spur of the moment thing. They were fishing for crappie and Herb, against his wishes, hooked into a rather large catfish. This wasn't just any catfish...it was a talking catfish! LOL! All in good fun! In other videos, you'll hear Rhonda singing to the fish in the hopes of conjuring up a bite. Does that approach work? Well, you'll just have to watch to find out!  I decided to reach out to Rhonda to see if she'd be interested in talking with me about living on Lake of the Ozarks, fishing, and more. She's learning quite a bit during this time including running the front of the boat which isn't something a lot of wives out there would be brave enough to do. If she can do it, you can do it!
