Don't you love it when everything just comes together? I found myself in a jam recently when I suddenly realized I didn't have any more episodes in the can for the next show. I've got an extensive list of possible guests that is ever-growing. So, I pulled it up and started going through it. Kate Field immediately popped out to me. I remembered seeing on Facebook that she recently had a birthday AND she met her goal of fishing 250 days in a year. Perfect! Meet Josette Robison, owner of Trails End Taxidermy in Keosauqua, Iowa.  Josette is an avid outdoors-woman and her love of hunting and fishing is what led her down the road to becoming a taxidermist. She went to school in Janesville, WI and then dug in!  It's amazing how many skills one needs to have in order to be a good taxidermist. It's definitely an art form. You need to be able to do everything from airbrushing, sewing, pottery, carpentry, and more! Oh- and then there's people skills. It's always fun getting a chance to be featured on other podcasts. Last July I had a fun opportunity to be a guest on the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency's show called Wildcast. This week I'm speaking with Grammy Award Winning musician Brittany Howard! Brittany is the lead singer, guitarist and main songwriter for the band Alabama Shakes. Most recently, she released her debut solo album called "Jamie." With her European tour being postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Brittany's been hanging out in Nashville, TN and I was able to get a few minutes to chat with her about one of her other big passions...and that's fishing!  She grew up fishing with her dad down in Alabama and she's carried that passion with her into adulthood. I'm talking about Terri McKinnon.  She began her career in fishing back in 2005 when she started a company called FisherGirl. Susan Thrasher has been teaching students how to fly fish through her Southern Brookies Guide Service and Camp out on the Caney Fork just east of Nashville for some time now. This past February I had the opportunity to attend the Catfish Conference in Louisville, KY. This was my first time, and I couldn't believe the turnout. It hit me then and there that catfishing is a whole subset of the fishing industry in and of itself. Fishing Lake of the Ozarks with her husband Herb, country and bluegrass music star Rhonda Vincent has been enjoying sharing their adventures on the water with fans and followers via Facebook Live. One video, in particular, went viral with a reach of over 8 million! It was a spur of the moment thing. They were fishing for crappie and Herb, against his wishes, hooked into a rather large catfish. This wasn't just any catfish...it was a talking catfish! LOL! All in good fun! In other videos, you'll hear Rhonda singing to the fish in the hopes of conjuring up a bite. Does that approach work?
