Ryan Wilkes is a freelance filmmaker originally from Calgary, Canada, but he has been based in Christchurch for the past 4 years. He came to New Zealand to pursue his PhD in bioengineering and fell in love with filmmaking and photography along the way. In September 2019, Ryan and three of his friends will be travelling to Tanzania on a mission to paraglide from the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro and to raise $40,000 for the construction of water wells and new school facilities in the local community. Ryan will be making a documentary about their journey and he aims to enter it into film festivals in 2020.
