  • Shovels & Rope [Performance & Interview Only]

    03/08/2021 Duración: 28min

Much has been said about the pros and cons of being a parent during the pandemic. For musicians like Shovels & Rope’s Cary Anne Hearst and Michael Trent, not being able to be on the road has allowed them an amount of time with their children that they haven’t previously been afforded, but also left them without an income to support them. Perhaps that’s why their latest volume of the Busted Jukebox series they started in 2015, titled 'Busted Juicebox Vol. 3,' leans heavily into lullabies and kid-friendly tunes featuring contributions from artists like Sharon Van Etten, The War and Treaty, and the Secret Sisters. The duo break down how the pandemic affected their lives and creative process in the latest episode of Live on KEXP. Recorded 05/05/2021. • The Weather Station [Performance & Interview Only]

    06/07/2021 Duración: 36min

For over a decade, Tamara Lindeman has been expanding the depth and breadth of the music she makes as The Weather Station. For her latest record, 'Ignorance,' Lindeman not only pushes the limits of the folk genre tag she’s often categorized under but also gets thematically spacious with a major focus on not just the physical but psychological impacts of climate change. The album couldn’t have come at a better time, with the ramifications of climate change more severe this summer than ever.  Recorded March 17, 2021. • Langhorne Slim

    22/06/2021 Duración: 17min

It’s been often spoken about how, while the past year has been incredibly trying for most, for many it was also a moment of calm and self-reflection that was long-needed. For Langhorne Slim this appears to be the case, as he tells John Richards during his Live on KEXP at Home session. While it sounds tough to glean anything good from the compounding of a global pandemic, struggling with sobriety, and a tornado ravaging his home of Nashville, it also birthed the songs that make up Slim’s seventh studio album, 'Strawberry Mansion,' out now on Dualtone Records and Bandcamp.
