I know a certain blue blur who'll be listening at double speed this week, as we speed into Sonic Superstars, leap off the top of a building and into Assassin's Creed Mirage, and sit comfortably with a phone in our hand into Finity, plus chat about the closure of the Microsoft/Activison deal, and a whole bunch more besides. The blue blur I mentioned, by the way, I was talking about that guy from Watchmen with his willy out. He just listens to podcasts quickly and I don't have my glasses on.

We convened at a convention this weekend, and we can tell you about what we've played there including Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Sonic Superstars, and a ton of indie games. We've played some of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Beta and Forza Motorsport, and Adam's played and loved the language translation adventure game Chants of Sennaar. Speaking of language, I've been avoiding admitting it, but I think it's time: writing those first few words of the description here is the first time I've realised that a convention is called a convention because you convene there. I bet that's why they call it a convent too. What about convenient? Is that related? Time to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

For the second week in a row we snuck into the Nintendo offices under cover of broad daylight and took a peek at an upcoming game - this time the Joy-Con Swan-Song WarioWare: Move It! Plus we review the new worlds-within-worlds puzzle adventure Cocoon from former Limbo/Inside developers, and jump back into Cyberpunk 2077 to see how much the new patches and DLC have changed the game. All this plus a ton of news and more, on the podcast that I personally enjoy calling “Filthy Casuals”.

A fragging good time this week as we talk about Quake 2 Remastered, Pokemon Sleep, the Papers Please LCD game, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, follow-up thoughts on Baldur's Gate 3, and a whole lot more. For the younger amongst you, a "Frag" was what we used to call a "kill" in a multiplayer game. "TikToks" were called "Vines", "cringe" was called "awkward" and "listening to music" was called "scrobbling".

You enter a dark cave. At the end of the shadowy tunnel sit three figures, hunched over and chattering. Their teeth gnash back and forth as they talk to each other in some garbled, hideous dialect. *Perception check successful* They are speaking with Australian accents, harsh and abrasive. You slowly approach, and realise that they are talking about video games. Specifically, they are talking about the new Red Dead Redemption releases, expensive Ninja Turtles outfits, and something called "Baldur's Gate 3". You draw your sword. *Dexterity check failed* The three figures dodge your attacks almost effortlessly. You realise that these monsters are the loathsome Podcaster beasts you have read about in tomes of old, but believed to have been long extinct after the TikTok wars. They dart back and forth, mocking you as you swing your blade. "The pen is actually mightier than the sword!", they taunt, as though their scribbled descriptions on the cave walls, summaries of what they had talked about that week, could be

Hark, weary traveller. Stay awhile and allow a simple bard such as myself to sing for you of a tale once spun to the kings of yore. It is of a travelling band of bards, much like yours truly, but they did not sing for their supper. Instead, they used ancient magics to record their voices onto a special type of stone known as a Pod, which they would Cast into a river, hoping that others further down the Stream would hear their words, as they spoke of games and japes most amusing. They spoke one week of Benjamin of Vernel's time with the town of Baldur's Gate, which was still undergoing construction at the time.
