Succotash Epi253: Three Clips in Search of a Theme
18/05/2021 Duración: 30minSaluton, estas mi Tyson Saner and welcome to Succotash! I'm your every-other-week host for this episode which happens to be #253. Last week in show #252, show creator Marc Hershon had a chat with none other than Wayne Federman, who has been studying the history of comedy for quite some time now. In fact, he has a book out called "The History of Stand-Up: from Mark Twain to Dave Chappelle", which you can find on Amazon or by clicking the link on the show's archive blog at www.succotashshow.com. There is a podcast companion (more-or-less) to the book also called "The History of Standup" and I clipped it back in December of 2019 for episode 198 of Succotash. I also listened to every episode of that particular soundcast that had been released at the time. Comedy, after all, has been one of my favorite subjects for a very long time. I encourage you to check out that episode, last week's episode, and pretty much any episode from the past that you have time for… But this week, I've got a fresh trio of clips for you.

Succotash Epi252: Fraternizin’ with Federman
11/05/2021 Duración: 01h10minI’m Marc Hershon, your every-other-weekly host and this is episode 252 of The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. But did you catch my partner in clips, Tyson Saner, on last week’s installment? Epi251 featured snippets from a trio of soundcasts: Worst Movies Ever Played, Thought Spiral, and Bob Saget's Here For You. You can still catch it in all the usual downloady spots, like Apple & Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Soundcloud, iHeart Radio, YouTube and our own damn homesite, SuccotashShow.com. I don’t have clips for you this week. Even better, I have an interview with the very delightful Wayne Federman! Wayne’s an old buddy and a friend of the show and he’s just put out a new book, The History of Stand-Up. You can get it pretty much everywhere but click the link above over to where it lives on Amazon. This is an extra-long episode of the show. These days Tyson and I try to keep these zipping along at about an half-hour so this is more like the old Succotash where we’d go for an hour or more. But Wayne and I

Succotash Epi251: Flowerin' with May Clips
04/05/2021 Duración: 29minSaluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I am your every-other-week host for this 5th season of Succotash, now in its 10th year. Because this is Episode #251, that means that last week's episode, hosted by show creator Marc Hershon, was Epi250 which also is quite the milestone. That episode, which you can still find on your favorite soundcast-streaming and/or acquiring service or at our homesite www.succotashshow.com, featured a quartet of clips. Three From the soundcasts Bummer Boys, The Celebrity Memoir Book Club, and Odd Dad Out which had not been featured on Succotash before, and one from old friends and supporters of Succotash over the last decade, the gang over at The Salty Language Podcast. All that listening goodness is available to you should you wish to listen to it sometime in the future. This week I've got three clips for you from the soundcasts Worst Movies Ever Played, Thought Spiral, and Bob Saget's Here For You. There's also an ad for Henderson's Pants' new Scavenger Slax in store for you somewhere in t

Succotash Epi250: Nothin' Special Except Clips
28/04/2021 Duración: 28minThank you, dear listener, for listening. This is your every-other-weekly-host Marc Hershon and, frankly, I wasn’t sure I was going to get in here this week with our milestone TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTIETH EPISODE, mainly because I had a full-on computer meltdown halfway through cutting clips for this installment. I literally had to cobble all the pieces together on another computer that didn’t have all the usual software I use to do it but, somehow, it all miraculously came together. If you’re just finding us here at Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, we passed our 10-year mark in soundcasting a couple of weeks ago and now we’re clocking in at 250 shows. If you happened to have missed last week, hosted by my alternating guest host Tyson Saner, he featured clips from a trio of comedy soundcasts, including The Blood Buddies: Horror Podcast, Wack Brackets, and Daydrinking with Gary & Elliot. You can grab an earful at either Apple or Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, YouTube, Soundcloud, o

Succotash Epi249: Clippin' in the New Season
20/04/2021 Duración: 29minSaluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to episode #249 which is the first official episode of Season 5 of Succotash: The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. That's right, it's season 5 and the show is no longer being called "Succotash Shut-In" as explained last week in Episode 248 which was our 10year anniversary show. Featuring Marc Hershon, Joe Paulino, Bill Heywatt, and yours truly in an extra-special conversation-and-trip-down-memory-lane extravaganza! I urge you to check out the episode if you haven't already. (I would like to point out that during that conversation I incorrectly stated that I had been contributing to "Succotash" since 2012. I looked in the archive and it turns out that I sent in 2 clips that were used in the episode from Apr 30, 2013, entitled Succotash Epi57: Boozin' With Bill (Again) which I will link here: https://succotash.libsyn.com/succotash-epi57-boozin-with-bill-again.) Oopsie. At any rate, that means in 10 days from when this episode is posted I will have been contributing to this pro

Succotash Epi248: Celebratin’ TEN YEARS of Soundcasting!
13/04/2021 Duración: 01h24minWelcome to this milestone episode of our little soundcast, which is – this week – celebrating TEN YEARS of doing whatever it is that we do. It made only be Episode 248 (maybe we didn’t drop installments quite as regularly as we should have for a big chunk of the past decade…), but it is still 10 friggin’ years of churning out that sweet, sweet soundcast magic. In honor of that, and the fact that we seem to be solidly on the downward side of the bell-shaped curve coming out of the coronavirus pandemic, the staff and management of this show have decided to return to our original title. Starting with this episode we are, once again Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. As we flip the first page on the next ten years, this is also now officially Season 5 – a fact you should see reflected in the refreshed show logo on the service where you’re downloading or streaming this show. If you’re a regular listener to Succotash (in or out of pandemic mode), you‘re savvy to the fact that we either play clips from co

Succotash Shut-In Epi247: Yackin' with Dr. Gonzo
07/04/2021 Duración: 55minI'm Marc Hershon and welcome to a very auspicious Episode 247 of Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package. Because not only does this installment feature my interview with a fixture in the San Francisco comedy scene back in the 1980s, 90s and into the early aughts, John Means, AKA Dr. Gonzo, but this is also the very last episode of Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package. Now, to be clear, we’re not going away. No, my alternating host Tyson Saner and I are staying right here, in this very feed. But this show marks the end of Season 4 of this show. It’s also the last show of our first TEN YEARS in soundcasting! And, although the COVID crisis, the pandemic, or whatever you want to call this crazy last year that most of us have managed to muddle through, is not quite over, things are looking brighter and definitely on the upswing. Millions of Americans have had at least one if not two of their COVID vaccine shots. I’m in line next Tuesday to get my second Pfizer jab. And some people have g

Succotash Shut-In Epi246: Trimmin' A Trio
30/03/2021 Duración: 27minSaluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash Shut-In — I am your every-other week host bringing you this episode which is enumerated #246. Last week my co-host and every-other-week show-host Marc Hershon brought you episode @245 which was a "Chats" episode featuring a conversation with comedian and comedy writer for television, Michael Rowe. It's an fun episode that I recommend you listen to by going to our homesite at www.succotashshow.com…of course if you are listening to this on a podcast service of some other kind such as Apple or Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, the Laughable app, iHeart Radio, or even YouTube, you should most definitely be able to listen to it and other episodes that way. If this is your first time here, thank you for listening. Aside from chats with notably interesting folks, episodes of Succotash have been known to feature clips of soundcasts from all over the English-speaking parts of the world. This episode is one of those types of episodes. I've got clips from the sound

Succotash Shut-In Epi245 – Jawin’ with Michael Rowe
24/03/2021 Duración: 50minHowdy, chum! I am Marc Hershon, your every-other-weekly host for Episode 245 of Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package. And this week I come to you semi-immune to the coronavirus, more commonly known as COVID-19. One shot down, one shot to go. I don’t want to seem overly eager to get the next dose over and done with, but my wife and I ARE now starting to plan a getaway to Hawaii just to get the hell outta town for the first time in over a year. Switching gears: In case you missed my awesome co-host for last week’s Epi244, you can still catch Tyson Saner and his lineup of soundcast clips that included Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Humboldt Holding Up, and Behind the Bastards. Find it on Apple or Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, the Laughable app, iHeart Radio, YouTube, or right on our very own homesite, SuccotashShow.com. I have no clips for you this week but, instead, a visit with Michael Rowe, who started out as a standup comedian but who went on to become a comedy writer and producer for TV. Mi

Succotash shut-In Epi244: Honorin' Women with Clips
16/03/2021 Duración: 30minSaluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I am your host this week on Succotash Shut-In, The Soundcast Stimulus Package, Epi244. How are you all doing? It's the second week of March, 2021, and according to the news and late-night TV talkshow hosts we here in America have been in the thick of COVID-19 for an entire year now. The virus was actually here earlier than that, but the lockdowns started in March…so cheers to those of you who cared enough to mask up and play it safe to avoid that very real bit of science called asymptomatic spread. Thank you for taking the danger seriously. I only wish everybody had but…um…humans. That's all, just "Humans"…that says it all. Some of them are very stubborn, some of them are very dumb, and some of them are responsible for killing your loved ones. I feel like there should be accountability for that, but no one is asking me. In case you missed Episode #243, it was hosted by show creator Marc Hershon and featured clips from Chillpak Hollywood Hour, Screams & Moans, Waking from

Succotash Shut-In Epi243: Soundcastin' Friends
10/03/2021 Duración: 29minHello, friend-o! Marc Hershon here to host Epi243 of Succotash Shut-In, The Soundcast Stimulus Package. By the look of things – fingers cross, masks still on, and socially distanced yet – things in the US of A are sort of showing signs of getting…dare I say it…post-pandemic-ready. Maybe. Who knows? People were burning their masks in Idaho in some bizarre “freedom ritual”. Very reminiscent of the exact same activity that happened right here in San Francisco around 1918 when they thought the Spanish Flu was tapering off. That didn’t go so well and things actually got worse. But we’ll hope for the best and you never know – maybe mask smoke will be as effective as the scientifically developed vaccines in knocking this thing down. My main point of bringing up the current state of affair is that, as the pandemic eases, me and my every-other-weekly co-host Tyson Saner maybe restoring this soundcast to some semblance of normal. As you may know, the 10th anniversary of this show is just a month away, in April, and i

Succotash Shut-In Epi242: Clippin' Towards Spring
02/03/2021 Duración: 29minSaluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I'm your every-other-week host of this program that is currently called Succotash Shut-In. Welcome to Episode 242. Last week on Epi241, "Crossin' The Pond", show creator and other every-other-week host Marc Hershon brought you a quartet of clips from soundcasts from England that we had not featured before. The shows clipped in question are Looks Familiar, CheapShow, Rule of Three, and The Adam Buxton Podcast. It's a fun episode and you can still find it at our homesite, http://SuccotashShow.com, as well as on Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, the Laughable app and wherever soundcasts are found and streamed and/or downloaded. This show I've put together for you is comprised of a trio of clips from mostly places around the U.S.A. Our featured clips are from Valley Boys Podcast, The Dinner Party Download, and The Record Store Day Podcast. Succotash Shut-In Epi241: Crossin' The Pond
24/02/2021 Duración: 29minHello, dear listener. I’m Marc Hershon, your every-other-weekly host of this show. Happy to be back. Last week co-host Tyson Saner was in the hot seat with Succotash Shut-In Epi240, favoring your pearly shell-like ears with clips from such audio wonderments as What Had Happened Was, Oprah's Master Class, and The Al Franken Podcast. You can still catch that installment at our homesite, http://SuccotashShow.com, as well as from Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, the Laughable app and wherever diner soundcasts are streamed and/or downloaded. Just last week - the past two weeks, actually - I was a guest on the Chillpak Hollywood Hour, with Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness, where, along with comedian and writer Suli McCullough, I participated in a comedy roundtable discussion. We talked about our comedy influences, the effect of the pandemic on live performance and the creative process, and more. Check it out when you can at their homesite: ChillpakHollywood.com, or wherever you grab your favorite sound

Succotash Shut-In Epi240: Gettin' Serious
16/02/2021 Duración: 30minSaluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I am your host for this week here on Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulas Package Epi240. In case you missed it, last week on Epi239, "Drollplayin' with Gamecasts", my co-host and your every-other-show host Marc Hershon harvested four clips having the common theme of roleplaying games from the soundcasts The Adventure Zone, AllD20, Critical Role, and Nerd Poker. It's a fun show and I urge you to check it out if you've a mind to. It can be found via Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, the Laughable app, iHeart Radio or even at our homesite, SuccotashShow.com . This week I've got clips from the soundcasts What Had Happened Was, Oprah's Master Class, and The Al Franken Podcast. I've also got a throwback Henderson's Pants ad from way back in Epi200 for their Bicentennial Pants to round out the whole experience. I haven't really got a whole lot more to say on the subject except thank you for listening so far, I hope you enjoy this episode's offerings. Let's get goi

Succotash Shut-In Epi239: Drollplayin’ with Gamecasts
10/02/2021 Duración: 34minHello and welcome to Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package, Episode 239. I’m your every-other-weekly host, Marc Hershon, and the chief purpose of this show – right after our prime directive: Entertaining YOU – is to support and promote comedy soundcasts AKA podcasts up, down, and across the internet. We started almost 10 years ago, in April of 2011, with the idea of spreading the word about soundcasts in general – which were having a little trouble gaining traction – and comedy soundcasts specifically because, well, we love comedy. And comedians. And the idea of being part of this exciting medium. Tyson Saner, who had stepped in for me as the regular host a few years ago, and I decided to start pumping out our show on a weekly basis for the first time since Succotash started. And we’ve been at that for nearly a solid year now. In fact, if you missed last week’s Epi238, entitled Clippin’s and Andy Dick, Tyson featured clips from a trio of soundcasts including the Jock Doc Podcast, Battle of the Bal

Succotash Shut-In Epi238: Clippin's & Andy Dick
02/02/2021 Duración: 44minSaluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I'll be your host this week on Epi238 of Succotash Shut-In which you are currently listening to. Last week in Epi237, show creator Marc Hershon had a conversation with returning guest and friend o' the show Chris Mancini. I urge you to check out that conversation. This week I have a hybrid show of sorts for you. I have a partial chat with none other than actor, songwriter, artist PROVOCATEUR…Andy Dick! (Full disclosure: We had severe technical difficulties while attempting to record and he had spent more than an hour the previous night soldiering thru similar sound difficulties on our end during an appearance on one of my other soundcasts Anti Social Show which I co-host with Hunter Block who was a guest on Succotash in Epi173: "Bein' Social with Hunter Block". Anyway, the audio we recorded that previous night will be featured in the hundredth episode of Anti Social Show but since that won't be releasing for at least a month, I wanted to follow up with Mr. Dick so that he could

Succotash Shut-In Epi237: Multicastin' with Chris Mancini
26/01/2021 Duración: 38minHello, chumley (I’m talking to you, dear reader), and I am glad that things here in the good ol' US of A seem to be sort of simmering down. Maybe. Kinda? It, at least, FEELS like it’s getting betterer. Marc Hershon here to usher you through Epi237 of Succotash Shut-In: The Soundcast Stimulus Package. The California shelter in place order just got lifted yesterday for now and, who knows, by the time our office 10th anniversary rolls around this April, we may be able to go back to being just plain ol’ Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast again. We’ve got a special guest sharing the SuccoZoom Studio with me today but before we get to him I wanted to ask if you caught our most recent Episode 236 with our alternating host Tyson Saner. He featured a few marvelous clips last week from the soundcasts Love, Alexi, Strange Times, and In the Envelope: The Actor’s Podcast. Go scoop up a big earful of soundcast goodness at Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, YouTube, the Laughable app, or fr

Succotash Shut-In Epi:236: Distractin' with Comedy
19/01/2021 Duración: 31minSaluton! Estas mi, Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash Shut-In, as this soundcast continues to be known into this new year, which is 2021. Welcome to Epi236: The first show of 2021 that I have hosted. How has your year been so far?…Yeah, I feel you. We carry on because we must...and as we do, some of us look for distractions. Soundcasts, or "podcasts" as much of the world still refers to them, are one such type of distraction. Comedy is another type of distraction entirely... in fact it is multiple types of distractions due to the subjective nature of "comedy". Some of the content this soundcast samples for you will be funny... but not to all of you. Technically, I'm not necessarily looking for funny content as I gather clips. I gravitate toward listening to people I find interesting. Maybe that's how you feel about it as well. Last week in Epi235 my soundcast co-host... or every-other-show-host Marc Hershon…brought you a quartet of clips from the soundcasts Fantastic! with Dana Carvey, Conan O’Brien Needs A

Succotash Shut-In Epi235: Focusin' on the Funny
13/01/2021 Duración: 36minWelcome to the first installment of Succotash Shut-In of 2021. I'm your bi-monthly host, Marc Hershon, and you can punch me in the nuts and call me a soprano, but what a hell of a year it’s been already! It’s more like 2020 won’t let go. I did not have “President incites insurrection” on my New Year bingo card. Things are so unsettled in the US right now that I was debating whether to come back from our scheduled holiday break. But, in the end, realized that both you and I could probably do with some laughs, courtesy of the fine folks whose soundcasts we’re clipping this time around. Before I tell you who we have in store today, if you didn’t catch our last epi before the holidays, featuring my every other weekly co-host Tyson Saner, be sure to check out Episode 243 featuring his interview with Cassandra Cardenes, which can be found on Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, and on our homesite: http://SuccotashShow.com. This week we’re featuring clips from such comedy wonderfulness as

Succotash Shut-In Epi234: Christmasin' with Cassandra Cardenes
22/12/2020 Duración: 01h12minSaluton and feliĉan Kristnaskon! Estas mi, Tyson Saner, your host this week on the final Succotash Shut-In episode for 2020. And what an episode it is! Comedian, actress, improvisational performer, soundcaster, and all-around great person Cassandra Cardenes joins me for her very 1st Succotash episode as we talk at length about the Christmastime movie classic (?), the 2003 Richard Curtis-directed film with the sizable ensemble cast: Love Actually. (BTW, last week, Marc Hershon interviewed his fellow Vulture.com soundcast reviewer Becca James for Epi233 and you can still listen to it on Google and Apple podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Podbay, iHeart Radio, and the Laughable app just to name a few places…as well as over at www.succotashshow.com which is, of course, this show's homesite. Cassandra joined me for this conversation immediately after appearing on a weekly soundcast she has been appearing on for the last 5 years, Nooner Podcast over at Kevin Smith's SModcast Internet Radio…which YOU can listen to
