  • Succotash Shut-In Epi213: Doin' It Down Under w/Jason McNamara

    28/07/2020 Duración: 58min

Hey there - it's your every-other-weekly host Marc Hershon here with Epi213 of Succotash Shut-In: The Soundcast Stimulus Package. But I am not manning this installment alone — I'm joined by a longtime friend of the show, Jason "Jabs" McNamara, all the way from Canberra, Australia! And this isn't the first time we're done this but it has been a LONG time — Jabs last co-hosted Succotash with me back in Epi40: Down Underin' with Jabs, in November of 2011, the very first year of the show. Jabs used to be the ringmaster of a three-headed dog of a soundcast called The Dhead Factor (we talk about that in this episode), a show which has been on a VERY long hiatus. He also produced a comedy narrative soundcast from 2013, a limited series called Boganwood (which you can still catch over on Stitcher.) We also talk more about Boganwood during this episode if you want to find out more.   An avid runner, he's got a great wife and three kids in Canberra, the capital of Australia, where he holds down a day job working

    21/07/2020 Duración: 29min

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I'll be your host for the duration of this week's edition of Succotash Shut-In: The Soundcast Stimulus Package,  also called SSI The SSP … no, I'm kidding, NOBODY calls it that. … but they could.   Come to think of it, when the show was called Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, people could have called it S The CSS …I really don't know if anyone ever did before my having written this…but then, there's a lot of things I don't know and I'm still breathing as of this recording… so I must have figured THAT out at some point. It stands to reason… and it sits down to shut up.   Anyway, unless you're listening to this audio by accident you know that this is a show that features clips of other people's podcasts - or soundcasts as we like to call them here at Succotash - and this episode is no exception to that. I've got 3 clips for you, one from each of the soundcasts I'll be mentioning in the next couple breaths. I've got clips from: Sincast, 16oz Cinema, and The Neighbo

  • Succotash Shut-In Epi211: Three Clips n' a Bonus Cut

    14/07/2020 Duración: 28min

Howdy hi there, friends and neighbors! As the man says, I am Marc Hershon, host of this episode of Succotash Shut-In, the Comedy Soundcast Stimulus Package. What does that mean? It means we’re bringing you clips from a variety of comedy soundcasts from around the web. Most new ones but sometimes old ones. Sometimes we’ll bring you interviews with soundcasters or comedians. Sometime we bring you special presentations of one sort of another. When I say we bring you I’m not using the royal “we” there, no sir. I switch off hosting this dog-n-pony show with Tyson Saner just so we can crank these puppies out with maximum efficiency on a weekly bases/ Did you catch his most recent installment, Epi210? It’s a dandy, featuring clips from The Korey Epps Show, EXPcast : a video game podcast, and Wild Ride! with Steve-O. You can still get it from with our homesite, at SuccotashShow.com, as well as any of the many outlets that carry this show: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Play, PodBay, the Laughable app, and

    07/07/2020 Duración: 27min

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, your host for this episode of Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package". Welcome. Next week, Marc Hershon has the hosting duties as well as last week's episode in which Mr. Hershon shared his SleeveTalkers soundcast pilot episode with you. I recommend listening to that episode if you haven't already.   This week I've got clips from The Korey Epps Show, EXPcast : a video game podcast, and Wild Ride! with Steve-O. This show also features fantastic fake advertising from our longtime fake sponsor Henderson's Pants Republican-Fit Jeans, and our more recently acquired 100% fake sponsor with the 100% real website TrumPoetry.com from which I will, of course, be reading a selection from.   Would you like to be a REAL sponsor of Succotash Shut-In? Contact marc@succotashshow.com and let's work something out! :) I am making a smiley face that you can't see, prompted by a typed version of a smiley face that you also cannot see…unless you are reading this…    CLIPS   The Korey E

    30/06/2020 Duración: 32min

Welcome to Episode 209 of Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package. As you may have figured out by now, this soundcast sports TWO hosts, and we switch off episodes every week in order to be able to crank these shows out. The other guy is Tyson Saner, and if you missed out on him bringing you Epi208 last week, where he featured clips from a trio of lovely comedy soundcasts – including Six Seasons & a Podcast, The Bitter Sound, and Deliver Us From Disney, it’s not too late to listen to that installment. It’s available on our homesite, SuccotashShow.com, as well as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, the Laughable app and all over the web. Diverting away from playing clips from comedy soundcasts this time around, I am bringing you a Special Presentation! Among the things I was working on when I stepped away from fulltime hosting duties of Succotash a couple of years ago was writing and producing a pilot episode for a new comedy narrative soundcast. It was based on a project I had been curating on Twi

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I'm your host this week, the week before last AND, presumably, the week after the next one. Last week and, presumably next week, your host will be Marc Hershon who created Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. We've been sharing hosting duties to push out miniature weekly shows for your listening pleasure in this thing we now call Succotash Shut-In to help us all ride out the COVID-19 pandemic is high listening style.   Succotash Shut-In Epi207 had some fantastic content that you probably should check out at your earliest convenience. In fact, if you'd like to turn this episode off and listen to the previous show because you have not done so already, I won't be fussed one iota. Technically, I won't even know…unless you tell me. Or if you tell Marc and he relays that info to me…   For those of you still listening, I have three clips for you from the soundcasts Six Seasons & a Podcast, The Bitter Sound, and Deliver Us From Disney. Of course, we have an ad from our lo

Thanks, Bill Heywatt! I AM Marc Hershon, your every-other-episode host of Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package. I switch off with Tyson Saner, who had some great clips last show, Epi206, including Full Court Chat with Dave Shilling, Sensibly Cynical, and New Player Has Joined. You can still grab it or any of our past episode at our homesite, SuccotashShow.com, as well as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, the Laughable app and all over the web. THIS, however, is Episode 207, and I also have a lovely late Spring harvest of comedy soundcast clips for your listening pleasure. Today we’ll be hearing from Alonzo Bodden: Who’s Paying Attention?, Black Men Can’t Jump (In Hollywood), Daydrinking with Gary & Eliot, and The Brilliant Idiots. This episode is brought to you by our two long-term sponsors: Henderson’s Pants, featuring their Wake Island Abbreviated Trousers, and Trumpoetry.com, the website featuring the biting political verse by our very own engineer and producer, Mr. Joe Paulino. • Succotash Shut-In Epi206: Trippin' On A Trio Of Clips

    09/06/2020 Duración: 27min

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, your host for this and every other episode of Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package (formerly known as Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast) for the forseeable future. If this is your first time listening, thank you and welcome. This is the miniaturized form of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, created by Marc Hershon and we have been trading off hosting episodes since we reached our 200th episode which closed out our 3rd season over a month ago. Episode 205 was our first "Chats" variant of Succotash Shut-In and features a talk with soundcaster, Improvisational comedy performer, author, and one of my favorite guests on this or any soundcast, Greg Proops. Why not give it a listen if you've a mind to? Anyway, never start a sentence with "anyway". So, I've got another clips episode because I haven't really been able to secure anyone for a short, recorded chat yet but I remain open to the concept. I have several people I'd be interested to talk to...so be

    02/06/2020 Duración: 46min

Welcome to Episode 205 of Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package. I’m your every-other-edition host Marc Hershon, switching off with the inimitable Tyson Saner. And we are doing our best during this time of pandemic and – since the most recent installment – extreme civic unrest, to bring you fresh comedy soundcast tidbits every week. I have a special treat for you this week, departing from playing a sampling of several comedy soundcasts to, instead, bring you a conversation I held via Skype with comedian, writer, raconteur, and friend-of-the-show Greg Proops! You likely know Greg from his years of appearing on TV’s Whose Line Is It Anyway?, both before they added the question mark to the title and afterwards. He’s also been soundcasting for years with his show The Smartest Man in the World, and wrote The Smartest Book in the World in 2015. He’s got a list of TV and movie credits you can check out on IMDB.com as well. He and I go back a long way, to when we were both with the house improv comedy g

    26/05/2020 Duración: 24min

Saluton! Estas me, Tyson Saner. I am your every-other-epi host for this iteration of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, currently called Succotash Shut-In, The Soundcast Stimulus Package. But you probably know by now because you clicked on it, and we thank you for it. Next week Marc Hershon will be doing the hosting duties but this week is mine and welcome to it. I've got clips for you from a handful of soundcasts you may want to listen to more of in the future. That's how this works. I've got clips from Profiles in Eccentricity, Strange Times, and Nooner. This episode of Succotash is (fake) sponsored by Henderson's Pants' Massage-O-Pedic Trousers and Trumpoetry.com And away we go… CLIPS Profiles in EccentricitiesFirst up: Profiles in Eccentricities from Starburns Audio. Welcome to Epi203 of Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package. I’m Marc Hershon, switch-off co-host with Tyson Saner, each of us taking every other week. That way we can bring you fresh Succotash every week as we do our best to ride out the pandemic lockdown together. The aim of this season of the show is to bring you short snippets of a variety of comedy soundcasts – a kind of Whitman’s Sampler of funny – so you can then track the ones down that you like and grab their full shows. To make it even easier for your soundcast safari you can easily get to each show by clicking on it's title as it appears below. I’ve decided to go with a kind of TV-themed rack of soundcasts to play for you durinig the half-hour we have together. We have Office Ladies; Fake Doctors, Real Friends; The Darkest Timeline, and Bonanas for Bonanza. This episode of Succotash is sponsored by Henderson’s Pants new Foggy Bottom Britches and also Trumpoetry.com. CLIPS Office LadiesIf you were a fan of TV's The Office – pa

Saluton! Esta me, Tyson Saner. And it seems like only a couple of weeks ago I was putting the finishing touches on Episode 200 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. and sending it off to executive producer Marc Hershon to be posted as the final episode before our much-ballyhooed hiatus. Well, if you're listening to this…it means the hiatus is over. If you listened to Episode 201, hosted by my now sorta social distancing co-host Marc Hershon, then you already knew that. If you haven't listened to Episode 201, yet, you still can. It's a shorter episode than Succotash is, traditionally, so it won't take very long. And it explains why it is shorter, and why we are back, and really has some great content that should help you, the listener, get into the swing of things for this new phase of the soundcast formerly known as Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, now known as Succotash Shut-In. Coming to you weekly with alternating hosts Marc Hershon and yours truly, the afore-mentioned Tyson Saner. Thank you, Bill Heywatt. Holy cats! We’re back! After what may have been the shortest hiatus in soundcast history! Hello. Welcome. I’m Marc Hershon, this show’s original host, then executive producer, and now sort-of-co-host, for Season 4 of what we’re calling Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package. First off, if you’re wondering what’s happened to host Tyson Saner, worry not. He and I have a little chat just a few minutes into the show to fill you in on what our plan is for this crazy, locked-down Season 4. And he will be back every other week – switching off with me, to bring you a fresh batch of Succotash – meaning clips from a wide variety of comedy soundcasts AND also some interviews – each and every week! That’s our plan, anyway. Tyson and I will be doing our part to help fan the flame of soundcasting during these uncertain times, by giving you a place to listen in on a few minutes of some specially curated content. 21/04/2020 Duración: 01h39min

Saluton. Estas mi, Tyson Saner. I'll be your host for this Final Episode of Season 3 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. If you've not been listening to the previous episodes then you might be unaware that this is also the final episode before our hiatus…but more on that later. This also happens to be our 200th episode (hold for applause) and what a full episode I've got for you this time. It's a Succotash Chats episode and I'm joined by producer, director, violence prevention specialist, friend of Succotash and one-half of the team that hosts Chillpak Hollyood Hour: Phil Leirness. Mr. Leirness, along with Dean Haglund of TV's The X-Files and The Lone Gunman, has been creating and publishing episodes of CHH since 2007. They've always been supportive of this show, which itself has been around for your listening pleasure since 2011. Chillpak Hollywood Hour, to me at least, has always seemed like a big brother of sorts to Succotash…not in any insidious way, of course. There used to be a lot more cross

Saluton, estas mi…Tyson Saner! I will be your host for the duration of this penultimate episode of Succotash, the comedy soundcast soundcast, and as you may or may not know, I've been combing the internet far and wide, more or less, to bring you a few tastes of comedy soundcasting to your hungry-hungry ear-hippos for a few years now. You are about to hear what is likely to be the last typical "clips - style" version of Succotash for the foreseeable future but don't dismay…this coming break is being called a "hiatus" because of the temporary nature that the term implies. The most likely scenario is that the show will return in some form or another…perhaps exactly the same form as you are about to hear…perhaps not, who can say? And while that question hangs in the air could I tempt you with some clippage? I've got clips from Games for the End of the World, Refried Reviews, Wisecrackin' With Winter, Knowing: Robin Williams, Pajama Pants and Piecing It Together Podcast. Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner…your host for the duration of this penultimate-adjacent episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. I'm giving you a short intro today because I've got more important things to share with you than the insane ramblings of a madman attempting to disguise itself as coherent soundcast hosting. Of the clips I've got, three of them were sent in to me and I appreciate that a great deal! They are Assisting from Michael McClure, Dare Daniel from Daniel Barnes and Corky McDonnell, and a clip from the good folks over at Strange Times whose lineup has had an addition as of late. I also managed to scare up a few soundcast clips of my own somehow…four, in fact. I've got clips from Mindfudge Comedy Podcast, NERD U, Ghosted Hunters and The History of Standup. That makes seven clips in total. Think of it as a little extra stuffing in your bird…or in your stocking…or whatever it is that you might stuff and eat…or hang above your fireplace… In addition to clips I've got selected readings

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, your host, and that means you are my parasite...and we have a symbiotic relationship, don't we? Yup, that sounds as stupid out loud as it looks on paper...or on the screen of a computer or device. It's early in the morning at the moment as I am writing this and I wonder how many other soundcasters are working on their soundcasts right now instead of sleeping or fishing or doing a paper route (if those things still exist – I know I had a few of them "back in the day")   And is route pronounced to rhyme with "gout" or "boot"? It's probably either depending on where you are from or what you grew up hearing. Also, is "either" pronounced to rhyme with "breather" or "hi there"? I imagine the same scenario applies as before with the word "route".   Either (or either) way, your route (or route) has led you here to us at Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast and I am grateful for that. Welcome. I'm sorry this episode was a bit late. I usually aim for release on Fridays but I have onl

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, your host for the duration of this clips episode of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Thank you for deciding to make us your destination listening for about an hour of your life in as many chunks as you desire. That's part of the charm of a soundcast: you listen whenever YOU want to. It's entirely your choice and I am grateful for your having made it so far. I only wish to provide a service - if the need still exists as you are listening to this - and that service is to provide you with longer-than-thirty-second previews of other people's soundcasts (or podcasts as many people may or may not be calling them as you listen to this. )  So in this episode I've got clips of the following soundcasts : Cosmic Love, Dylan Brody's Neighbor's Couch Revisited, Bullseye with Jesse Thorn, The Future History of the British Isles, Smoshcast, and The Underculture with James Adomian. I've also got another triple shot of raging moderate Will Durst's Burst O' Durst and selected readings

Saluton estas mi, Tyson Saner, your host for the duration of this "Chats" episode of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Thank you for joining us. I really have got a rare treat for you, folks. Some of you have seen the thumbnail for this episode and know what's coming but, for those of you who may have possibly downloaded this episode or otherwise added it to your queue without looking at it, first — seriously , thank you — and second, our guest is none other than television personality, musician, songwriter, filmmaker, and first-year winner of MTV's Wanna Be a VJ: Jesse Camp! Mr. Camp was on two episodes of the Harmontown soundcast (episodes 316 & 317), which I recently had a chance to catch up on. And he had such a positive attitude about life I felt compelled to reach out to him. Some of you might recall that Jesse was reported to have gone missing for about a week around the middle of 2018, and I'm telling you that here because we don't really talk about it very much if at all in this chat. Saluton! Ne estas kulero…Welcome to Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. I am your host Tyson Saner. I've got a show for you that's bursting with content for your ears. Earlier today I was thinking about how strange it is that many of us refer to soundcasts as "shows"…because, aside from those with a visual component such as video or something like it…mostly soundcasts are…well, SOUND…You can't really see sound…just that which it effects. So podcasts, like radio shows before them, would more accurately be referred to as "tells"…but it's silly to think about re-naming everything simply because of logic. I mean, I'd have to re-brand my other soundcast "Anti Social Show" to "Anti Social Tell"…and that's just weird…the acronym sucks too…it's "AST"…I don't think that's a thing. I Googled it and it's not a word…it's not an English word at any rate. Let's see. If I put it through Google Translate, I see it means "branch" in…German. So, mystery solved. Anyway, in this edition of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcas
