Succotash Epi174: Clippin' The Summer Away
03/08/2018 Duración: 54minSaluton! Estas mi, your host...Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. I'm so glad you chose to join me for this clips episode featuring soundcasts that are chock full of current events... Or at least they were current events when they were being commented on by people in the more-or-less recent past. One might recall some of the topics and/or events discussed ahead in the program...others may not. I thank you for listening either way. Apart from clips, we have a single Burst O' Durst from raging moderate Will Durst. AND we've got some premium advertising coming your way. Henderson's Pants will delight us with a particularly classy commercial later in the program. We also unveil a new sponsor: TrumPoetry.com, featuring the daily news…in rhyme! As I mentioned before, I've got clips and helping me introduce them is my co-host for Anti Social Show and the guest for Epi 173 of this very program, Hunter Block! Since you can't hear him here, those clips are from soundcasts SModcast, Let

Succotash Chats Epi173: Bein' Social with Hunter Block
20/07/2018 Duración: 01h10minSaluton! Thank you for joining me on this Chats episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. My guest for this episode is someone I've wanted to have on since I began hosting duties…and that someone is none other than Hunter Block, my co-host on Anti Social Show, a soundcast that I've been recording with him for nearly two years now. I always have a good time recording with Hunter when we record for Anti Social Show. If there's one bit of info I've absorbed from listening to so many different soundcasts over the years it's a particular similarity of nearly everyone who commits their voices to digital posterity in mp3 format…and that similarity is how at the beginning of what will become the life of a soundcast, so many of its creators and contributors have absolutely no idea how a show is going to evolve or how long they will continue to make and post episodes. I'm not talking about radio personalities who archive their shows, I'm talking about people who just decide to add their voices to the ever-

Succotash Clips Epi172: Esperantin' About Soundcasts
23/06/2018 Duración: 55minSaluton! How's everybody out there? This IS Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, and I AM your host, Tyson Saner. Once again, I am bringing to you this tasting plate of different soundcasts from around the English-speaking parts of the world. In case anyone is following along at home, I am still learning Esperanto with Duolingo and I can now read much more of it than I ever expected to be able to. I don't get much practice speaking it but who knows, maybe I can find a community of Esperantists who are also soundcasters… Anyway, I've got clips for you from these fine soundcasts: Podcheese, The LIL Show, Who Charted?, Talking Without Thinking, Trevor Has Friends and The Joe Rogan Experience. I've also got a single shot of raging moderate Will Durst's Burst O' Durst segment. You can follow Will on Twitter @WillDurst or, if you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, you can catch him on stage live in a performance of "Durst Case Scenario: Midterm Madness". Succotash Clips Epi170: Makin' It Through May
25/05/2018 Duración: 49minSaluton, faithful Succotash listeners, 2nd timers and people just trying out the soundcast app on their phone. Is it Google Play? Spotify? Laughable? Some other thing? However you listen I'm grateful to you for it. I'm Tyson Saner and I'll be your host for this clips episode of Succotash the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. I've assembled clips from a few soundcasts I've enjoyed recently, including Bad Science, In Poor Taste, Vinyl Emergency, Welcome to Television, Defunctland and This Sounds Serious. We've also got a single shot of raging moderate Will Durst's Burst O' Durst segment and a classic Henderson's Pants spot. Ready? Let's dig in. CLIPS Bad Science The homesite for Bad Science tells us that they are "breaking down the 'bad science' of popular movies with comedians and scientists." Their second-ever epi features Doug Benson talking with two physicists about Back to The Future. The host is Ethan Edenburg from The Cooties. As they say - "Warning: There will be spoilers." So if you haven't yet seen 1984'

Succotash Chats Epi169: Diggin' Deep with Davian Dent
11/05/2018 Duración: 01h03minYes, for all intents and purposes it is I, Tyson Saner. Your host for THIS episode...and a few before it... but this one is different. As you may or may not have noticed from the episode title this week, it's a chat episode. I've been fortunate enough to snag an interview with Davian Dent of both The Bitter Sound and the oft-clipped-for this show Strange Times. Long-time listeners of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, might recall that Mr. Dent is, in fact had been a guest on this program waaaaay back in 2014 in Epi85, subtitled "Delvin' with Davian Dent", when the show was still hosted by our esteemed Executive Producer, Marc Hershon. The show was still called "Succotash, the Comedy Podcast Podcast" as well. Ah, those were the days. There's more of this interview than you're going to hear in the show — I've left it off because I'm trying to avoid a two-hour runtime for the episodes that I'm editing. I had a great time chatting with Mr. Dent and I even had the chance to appear on his show Strange

Succotash Clips Epi168: Spotifyin’ the Succotash
28/04/2018 Duración: 50minIndeed it is I, Tyson Saner. Your host and Soundcast Sommelier for the evening. Enticing your earbuds with a selection of fine soundcast content and extending the invitation to taste just the tiniest amounts before making a decision on whether or not to listen to more of what these various creators have seen fit to upload and share with whomever makes the decision to listen to them. This episode I've got clips from Bunny Ears, Popternative, Dead Jesters Sketch Comedy Podcast, Stoned Science, How Did This Get Made? and Judge John Hodgman. We've also got a double dose of raging moderate Will Durst's Burst O’ Durst segments and this episodeis brought to you by Henderson’s Shoplifter’s Pants. I'd also like to point out that one of the ways you could be listening to us now is Spotify! Yes, we've added yet another place you can find us and potentially pass us along to someone else in need of a soundcast experience who may not know where to start. CORRECTIONS DEPT. Succotash Clips Epi166: Salutin' The World Of Soundcastin'
30/03/2018 Duración: 52minTyson Saner here with warm greetings and a friendly Saluton to you: soundcast lovers, listeners, people who are just curious about soundcasting...and people who are listening by accident. I don't know, maybe you walked into a room where someone is listening to us and you were grazed by soundcast earshrapnel. Who am I to say how you should be finding us? No one, that's who. Except I WILL say that if you do like comedy, soundcasts AND comedy soundcasts, you could take advantage of an extremely useful app called Laughable. It's an app that specializes in comedy soundcasts and soundcasts by comedians. They've also recently expanded their content parameters and do not limit themselves to only comedy soundcast content. (I personally appreciate that as it is an ongoing goal I have to provide both types of content for Succotash The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast.) And wouldn't you know it? I do happen to have a more or less fresh batch of clippage for your aural consumption…or your hungry-hungry ear-holes. We've got c

Succotash Clips Epi164: Takin' The Reins
03/03/2018 Duración: 52minYes, it is I...Tyson Saner. Very grateful that you are joining me, brand new host of this program and pale imitation of former host Marc Hershon. It is a great honor to be entrusted with the keys to the Succotash SoundCast Soundkingdom and I look forward to carrying on the tradition that has been listening to and sampling Comedy (and otherwise) Soundcasts for your own personal variety show, between your ears, in the theater of your mind... Today I have for you what can best be described as an average amount of soundcast clips. Six seems to be the magic number but it's certainly not set in stone as long-time listeners of this program can attest to. Soundcasts to look forward to hearing clips from include Fascination Street, Logical Nonsense, Your Mom's House, The Stanley and Branley Show, The Los Angeles Breakfast Club: On The Air, and the High Content Podcast. We also have a double dose of comedian and raging moderate Will Durst's famed "Burst O' Durst" segments. I am grateful that Mr. Durst has agreed to c

Succotash Clips Epi163: Makin' It Unfinal
14/02/2018 Duración: 01h20minYes, believe it or now, and for the last time – really, this time, it’s me. Marc Hershon. Departing host but still remaining executive producer of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. First of all, I lied to you last episode when I said THAT was the final episode. Because after I dropped that installment I heard from a number of our friends-of-the-show, mainly soundcasters who have been so supportive and helpful over the seven years that the show has been on that I felt I truly hadn’t thanked enough people when last I signed off. Also, between Epi162 and now, we’ve found a way to keep Succotash going! In classic show business fashion, I’m just going to tease you with that for now and it will NOT be revealed in this blog post! You'll just have to listen to the episode to find out, as I do have a lengthy chat with my replacement toward the very end of the episode. The initial impetus to do an UNFINAL episode was that our resident political comedian and social commentator Will Durst had sent me a last

Succotash Epi162: Wrappin' It Up Live
16/01/2018 Duración: 01h08minHey, reader. It’s me, Marc Hershon, the host and executive producer for Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. In this installment, I'm bringing you the show we recorded live this past weekend at the 17th Annual San Francisco Sketchfest in just a moment. It's a fun episode, featuring a couple of my favorite past guests: Matt Weinhold, of the Monster Party soundcast, and Mark Pitta, of the late After Hours soundcast. (Weirdly, both of these guys were former roommates of mine at one time, which had nothing to do with them both being booked here. Or did it?)This is epi 162 and it’s going to be the last installment of Succotash for a while or maybe forever. We also had a surprise third guest who was in the audience: Josh Gilliland, host of the Legal Geeks soundcast, who was tagging along with Matt. Turns out that Josh is the brother of another past guest of our show, Gabriel Diani, and I was delighted to invite him up to join us. And, although he was unable to join us live due to being out in Hawaii dodgi

Succotash Clips Epi161: Boozin' n' Boozy n' Stuff
08/12/2017 Duración: 01h10sHo ho ho, yes it’s me, Marc Hershon. Host and nerf herder for Epi161 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. This is a full-on Succotash Clips episode, with a couple of extra treats in store, as befits the holiday season. First up, gotta couple of like dates coming up. This very show has been invited to get onstage in the upcoming 17th Annual San Francisco Sketchfest once again. We’ll be at Piano Fight in the Tenderloin on Sunday, January 14th, at 5:30 PM. Our announcer, Bill Heywatt, will once again be live for this show and we’ll have some special guests. So special I don’t even know who they will be yet – gotta wait to see who’s hanging around from the Sketchfest as we get closer to the date. Admission is FREE but space is limited, so you can click here for your free tickets! Then a week later, at that same SF Sketchfest but at a different venue – the historic, magnificent Castro Theater - they will be doing a tribute screening of The Foot Fist Way, starring Danny McBride and directed by Jody Hill.

Succotash Epi160: Chattin' AND Clippin'
13/11/2017 Duración: 01h37minYes, it’s me, Marc Hershon. Host and haberdasher for Epi160 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. It’s been a couple of weeks since we last dropped a ‘sode. Apologies, but life gets busy. Suffice to say we’re back. And we’ve got a bit of a mixed bag so it’s kind of half Succotash Clips and half Succotash Chats this time around. On the Clips side we have a couple of snippets uploaded to us by soundcasters themselves. A bit of a show called Nothing's Good and another from a soundcast called Pretty Gross. Over in the Chats department, I’ve got some interviews leftover from the 6th Los Angeles Podcast Festival that took place I nearly October. Chris Mancini, one of the co-founders of the Podfest, Jonathan Sadowski and Travis Clark from the Quick Question soundcast, Murray Valeriano from the Road Stories soundcast, and Chris Gore, who stopped by and we did kind of a simulcast – the interview has already been heard on his Film Threat soundcast. In addition, we have a double dose of our Burst O’ Durst seg

Succotash Epi159: Slippin' Down to the LA Podcast Festival
08/10/2017 Duración: 01h06minYes, it's me - Marc Hershon - your host and executive producer for Epi 159 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Usually we'd either be presenting a Succotash Clips or a Succotash Chats installment and, while I guess this is more Chats than Clips, it's a lot more informal than usual. That's because I recorded it from Studio F (my Fiat 500C) as I was trundling down Interstate 5 from San Francisco to Los Angeles to this year's Los Angeles Podcast Festival. The quality is about as good as you might expect, considering I'm in a tiny convertible car speaking into a digital recorder. But, as our friend in soundcasting Phil Leirness from Chillpak Hollywood Hour says, how much are you paying for this? We're featuring an interview I did with a writer and entrepreneur, RIck Karlsruher, who self-published a very funny novel, Standoff: How the Cold War Really Ended. We talk about the book, his attempts turn it into a movie, and some other adventures as well. This installment features a double dose of our Burs

Succotash Clips Epi158: Labor Dayin' the Clips Away
04/09/2017 Duración: 50minYes, friend. It is I. Marc Hershon, host and handmaiden of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Welcome to Epi158, which is another edition of Succotash Clips, featuring a great, steaming pile of snippets taken from comedy soundcasts as heard on the internet. Our Associate Producer Tyson Saner snipped us off a trio of clips, I grabbed some, and one enterprising soundcaster got us a clip from their show by uploading it directly to us — if you’d like to try that it's as simple as hitting our direct upload link at http://hightail.com/u/Succotash! We’re featuring snip-snips from My Dad Wrote A Porno, Off Book, Quick Question, The All Seeing Guys, and We’re No Doctors. MORE THAN CLIPS In addition to the clips we have a double shot (triple, actually*) of our Burst O’ Durst segment from friend and political comedian Will Durst. Plus we have a new Boozin’ With Bill segment, where our beloved announcer teaches us how to make a the bitterest drink ever to flow from the Studio P wetbar. And the whole show is br

Succotash Chats Epi157: Banterin' About "I Am Battle Comic"
11/08/2017 Duración: 01h03minYes! It’s me, Marc Hershon, your host and stain-resistant fabric for Epi157 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. And we are NOT the only personal audio program using the new “soundcast” description. I just got a listen to Epi 7 of the Los Angeles Breakfast Club ON THE AIR and the host, Phil Leirness, mentions soundcast in relation to that show. Which, BTW, is a lot of fun. Phil’s got tracks from the LABC dating back to the 1920’s all the way up to last month. And the show has an adequate announcer, too. They can't afford themselves a Bill Heywatt yet, so I agreed to do it. Check out the Los Angeles Breakfast Club ON THE AIR. They’re on libsyn, iTunes, and other distribution points across the vast intertubes. I’ll have to feature a snippet on a future Succotash Clips. But not THIS episode. Because this episode is a Succotash Chats show. And our Special Guest is Jordan Brady, who is making a speedy return to this program. He was with us for our sesquicentennial Episode 150 and now, with his third movie

Succotash Clips Epi156: Boozin' with Bill is Back!
30/07/2017 Duración: 01h11minIt's just me, Marc Hershon. Your host and Kentucky Blue Grass for Epi156 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. We’re back with another installment of Succotash Clips, where we feature some comedy snippets from the width, length AND depth of the internet. Our associate producer Tyson Saner and I combined forces to pull down samples from the following shows for this week’s selections: And God Created Podcast, Gone Riffin’, In Poor Taste, Juice In The Morning, Podcast For Laundry, Live from the Poundstone Institute, and Your Mom’s House. In addition, we not only have a double dose of our Burst O’ Durst with political comedian and social commentator Will Durst, but also a BONUS Durst bit – the opening segment from his new one man show in San Francisco, Durst Case Scenario. (Durst's cover note: "Here's a short clip from my new show. The clip is about 4 minutes, but the performance is about 85 minutes long. Me and my trusty overhead projector. Succotash Chats Epi155: Interactin' with Matt Besser
13/07/2017 Duración: 01h13minHey, look. Or listen, rather. It’s me, Marc Hershon, your host and carpet remnant for Epi155 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. I had a delightful bunch of soundcast clips lined up but then got the chance to chat with one of my more popular soundcast contemporaries. So I decided to go with another Succotash Chats installment and hold the clips until next time. Our special guest this episode is Matt Besser, host of the improv4humans soundcast and one of the founding members of the Upright Citizens Brigade, which has become one of the guiding lights for improvisational comedy in the US. I wanted to talk with Matt because of a special improvised narrative trilogy that he’s been doing recently amongst the regular improv4humans episodes, a three-part story entitled The Mopes. Along the way we chatted about how he first got up to speed on doing improv in Chicago, what it was like to hold down “normal” jobs before getting in the business of show, and some future improv-based plans for TV that he hopes w
