  • Episode 171: Young and Young at Heart -- All Ages Comics!

    15/11/2019 Duración: 26min

On today’s episode of All Comics Considered, we’re going to talk about comics for all ages. And the reason we’re doing this is that we really do believe in being gate openers into the world of comic books. Grim and dark books simply aren’t going to be appropriate for a younger audience and we feel that they should have something to curl up with on the couch.    Marty will be talking about Superman Smashes the Klan written by Gene Luen Yang and art by Gurihiru. In a world that keeps pushing towards a right wing, hateful place, everyone needs to follow Superman’s lead here.   Tim picked up David Peterson’s Mouse Guard, and it is a lush fantasy novel that features enticing character development, a feast for the eyes, and elements that reminded him of the Black Cauldron series.   Favorite All Ages Books Tim: Mouse Guard W/A: David Peterson Marty Superman Smashes the Klan W: Gene Luen Yang, A: Guirhuru, L: Janice Chiang

  • Format Changes!

    28/10/2019 Duración: 03min

Hi there Patrons and ACCtion Heroes!   The audio file says it all, but we have some formatting changes coming down the pike. We're spinning off Pullbox into its own weekly show. This way, we get to focus on our core mission of introducing new comics and comics-related media to our community. We tend to think of it as gate-opening. We are still going to do regular deep dives into other topics. For example, in the coming weeks, we have Immortal Hulk and Horror, Romantic Representation in Comics, and an interview with writer Jon Tsuei. But we're also adding a "lighter" topic into the rotation. Think of those topics as being palate cleansers for the dark and gritty Daredevil/Batman stories that Marty cannot stop bringing up. Examples of those topics include All Ages Media, State of the Arrowverse, and romance in general. Bookclub isn't going anywhere. In fact, this next bookclub will be Bone! And because Nick loves it so, we're going to do two whole shows on it, about a month apart. Look for our next Book Club
