Advent 1 - Darkness to Light

Jesus Christ alone is the one and only savior of sinners. His person and work of are efficient and sufficient for the salvation of sinners.

Membership Vow 5: Do you submit yourself to the government and discipline of the Church, and promise to study its purity and peace?

Membership Vow 4: Do you promise to support the worship and work of the Church to the best of your ability?

Membership Vow 2: Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and rest upon him alone for your salvation as he is offered in the gospel?

Membership Vow 1: Do you acknowledge yourself to be a sinner in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope save in His sovereign mercy?

Letters to One Holy "Chaotic and Apathetic" Church

Doxology: God our Savior is able to keep us from falling and to keep us standing and to jeep us blamess with exceeding gladness.

Contending for the faith is a community mission that requires a missional community. We need to think ourselves as members of a fight club, fighting for the faith, for one another, all for one and one for all.

Jude examines the false teachers through the lens of culture. He uses the appcryphal Book of Enoch to make his point that false teachers are fraudulent troublemakers worthy of judgment.

Jude uses several natural analogies to describe the false teachers. They are like unreasoning animals, hidden reefs, shepherds feeding themselves, waterless clouds, fruitless trees, wild waves of the sea, and wandering stars. These things are natural born fighters in the theatre of God's glory.

Like a covenant prosecutor Jude critiques the false teachers through the lens of Scripture and condemns them for denying the Lord, defiling the flesh, and despising authority.
