While masks have been used since the dawn of theatre in ancient Greece, using them for educational purposes is relatively new. In 1913 French theatre director Jacques Copeau introduced masks into theatre rehearsals as a way for actors to remove themselves. Some notable actors that attended the mask training classes at Julliard are Kevin Spacey, Robin Williams, Laura Linney, Kevin Kline, and Patti Lupone .
