A unique business model is always intriguing and this one caught our attention at the recent NAMM show in Anaheim. Lee was a touring musician and found himself wanting much more when it came to his bands production quality. Specifically, Lee envisioned better lighting... somehow. Although they could not afford to hire a lighting crew (or even just one guy) and a full rig, they could afford something better. Lee conceived a fully programmed, time coded show, and eventually he transitioned out of playing musing and into supporting musicians with the same dreams of better lighting. I've always considered this guy one of the nicest, kindest and most passionate people in the industry. Lowell started with lightshows using overhead projectors in the 60s and went on to found one of the largest and most important companies ever to enter the automated lighting space, Highend Systems. This week marks the 24th anniversary of the Miami Beach LDI show that saw Martin break all barriers, creating a booth and show that raised the bar for everyone else.
