Kind Of Sober

Episode Fifteen - It's time for another round of Chuck Klosterman's "Hypertheticals"! This week the group discusses hypotheticals like: whether a documentary about their lives would be more interesting than a fiction film, or if they would commute to a different state, just to deliver some documents they know nothing about. Then, they discuss the impact and importance (or lack thereof) of influencers.

Episode Fourteen - Vacations can provide some of the most memorable moments in a person's life, and no one knows that better than the Kind of Sober crew. This week is all about those memory making trips to different cities, states, and countries with family and friends. Then, Jena gives us an interesting, edible Hot Take.

Episode Thirteen - This week's Kind of Sober is all about music! Albums and bands can affect us in so many ways: Whether it be pure nostalgia, or a perfect seasonal background, music has this unique way of enhancing our moods. Lots of music recommendations on this episode. Then Mary shakes it all up with a great Hot Take.

Episode Twelve - Slender Man, Creepypastas and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark all have at least one thing in common: they're on this episode of Kind of Sober! This week, it's all about urban legends, scary stories, and the horrors of parts of the Internet. Fair warning, this one gets a little spooky. 

Episode Eleven - Clothes that are too big or too small? Smelling something bad all the time or would you rather smell bad all the time? So many questions, lots of answers on this edition of Kind of Sober, where we answer some more of life's great hypotheticals. Then, the Kind of Sober crew discusses whether or not a certain film franchise is killing the industry.

Episode Ten - We all have our guilty pleasures. The movies, the music, and the TV shows that we're almost embarrassed to admit we like. Almost. This week's Kind of Sober is all about those painfully bad things that we all love to love anyway, flaws and all. Some may even surprise you! Some probably won't. 

Episode Nine - Award Show Season is the best season! The Kind of Sober crew decided to try and see all of the movies nominated for Oscars, and then pick who should win the awards! Could we possibly agree with the Academy? Or, in the grand tradition of Siskel and Ebert, do we go in a completely different direction? Find out what would happen if the Oscars had only 4 voters.

Episode Eight - What if someone walked up to you and offered you a large amount of money if you completed a simple task like counting backwards? Would you do it? What if the punishment for getting a digit wrong was instant pain? Would you still do it? These kinds of hypothetical situations are the subject of this week's Kind of Sober. This week also features our second special guest, and a particularly volatile hot take. 

Episode Seven - Did you know that some of the things you learned about history weren’t true? Kind of Sober decided to talk about some of the things that they thought they knew about history, and then discovered were completely wrong. From Anastasia to George Washington, and the continent of Africa to Louis XIV, Kind of Sober talks history this week, and what we all know now, and should keep in mind for the future.

Episode Six - Some tropes just need to die. Whether it be in dumb comedies, or supposedly romantic novels, there are certain ideas, stereotypes, and cliches that just need to stay in the writer's mind. Even that's a bit of a stretch. This episode is all about those annoying cliches, and why they all suck. If that weren't enough, this episode also features one of the hottest of hot takes, courtesy of Jena. 

Episode Five - Ever wonder if some of your friends had the same experiences you did in school? Kind of Sober takes a special look at some of the great stories from days gone by: college, high school, junior high, and even elementary school. Featured in this episode is our very first special guest! This is definitely one for the ages. Also, stay in school, kids.

Episode Four - The Kind of Sober crew loves movies. So much so, they decided to pick three movies each that impacted them the most. Of course, there were so many movies that didn't make the final cut, and they talked about those, too.

Episode Three - Is it possible to separate great art from terrible artists? Kind of Sober discusses the volatile subject of consuming (or not consuming) art made by people who did awful things. Authors, television hosts, musicians, movie directors, no one's safe from the wrath of the Kind of Sober podcasters. Or Mary's bullet points.

Episode Two - The gang gets less than "Kind of Sober" and tries to answer some of the hardest hitting questions, all courtesy of The New York Times. All the while, Mary's cat Charlie tries desperately to become the unofficial fifth member of the group.
