Sinopsis

Everyday my patients battle in the health care system and the choices IT makes for them. Unless we're fully aware of all the choices available to us, the system will steer our patient's into the Western (drugs and surgical) approach regardless of personal values, philosophies and preferences. This show is about the everyday struggles with massive information overload that creates confusion and a "one size fits all" medical approach. We dive deep into holistic health and offer "frank" conversations about controversial health topics to ultimately empower patients with the navigation tools to support their individual values and choices.

  • FSDW Fence Building 101

    09/04/2019 Duración: 18min

The Poem I reference is written and published by Joseph Malins back in 1895. Joseph Malins is known for a wise poem titled "The Ambulance Down in the Valley". Its historical message still resonates today, albeit quieted by the noise of societal happenings and massive informational overload.  The age old question of prevention and being proactive vs. avoiding and "fixing" after the fact still looms in board room discussions as there's huge profits to be gained by the latter.  I was moved as a young grad student by the profound yet simple poem depicting the battle of right vs. wrong strategies.  Where do you stand?

My practice is filled with amazing people with tangible, measurable problems that often times are directly linked to their dietary habits. There are a few very common, culprits that predominantly create inflammation in the body. This statement is not meant to be a gross generalization applied to everyone, but rather is based on an individual’s response and body markers. Genetically Modified foods, sensititives, allergies, Autoimmunity and gluten intolerance can be very emotional conversations when it comes to abstaining from foods we're attached to. Yet, their high prevalence at driving inflammation in the body is quite relevant and still needs to be understood and managed to restore function and heal in order to be our best self. This episode is based on a distinct conversation that happens every day in my office with a very predictable outcome. I share the process and some strategies to allow you to hear the possibilities without letting your emotions run wild with the fear of loss. There is definitely more

  • Three Little Questions I Can't Help Asking

As a patient, the system of healthcare is wrought with compliance, liability, legality that complicate and get in the way of focusing on the person. These 3 questions set the stage for improved outcomes - for the patient. Too often the patient gets lost in the system and with procedures that are built for the masses rather than individuals. Asking a couple simple questions that matter to the patient have taught me over time what matters most to patients. Fill your practice with happy patients by keeping it about them.  This episode take home:  For patients, hold steadfast in your values and expectations even if the system is broken.  Doctors, providers, care givers...ListZEN with both ears and stay present, you're being asked to solve a problem.
