To finish out August’s Summer Camp Slasher Month here on The Highway, we decided to review The Burning (1981)!!! Discussing this slasher classic was an absolute blast where we bring up The Mayor’s dislike of camp counselor Michelle, Cropsey’s misguided revenge tour 5 years in the waiting, and we ask “Was this movie a victim of the oversaturated early-80’s slasher boom?” The King says Laurence Fishburne can’t speak no jive, The Lord has a first time watch-hot take on this and Friday the 13th (1980) that had The King and I rethinking our horror fandom that you just have to hear...& there “might” be a small teaser for an upcoming bonus episode.

To kickstart August for Summer Camp Slasher Month, we decided to review the infamous, campy classic, Sleepaway Camp (1983) for Episode 16!!! We had a lot of fun discussing this cheesefest, as well as hard-hitting topics like: What exactly happened to director Robert Hiltzik as a child at summer camp to make this movie? Visiting filming locations and watching colorized versions of black & white cinema, then we find out where The King places this between Ernest Goes to Camp & Friday the 13th. Our thoughts on all-male, group skinny dipping, “Roid Out Ronnie,” and The Lord makes Shyamalan a verb.

Join us as we continue our camping journey, going even deeper and further into the woods, trying to get to back to safety away from The Mountain Twins. But it appears that we stumbled upon an area of the forest that has an eerie and haunting aura...complete with these creepy stick totems and weird rock configurations. We may have messed up...
