Ep. 136 - Father's Day Bottleshare Extravaganza! (Booze episode)
30/06/2021 Duración: 01h58minWelcome back to another thrilling adventure we like to call: "How many different items can we drink in a podcast, and how high of an ABV can we get to, without making it super sloppy by the end". I think this show might be one of the few where nobody cared too much about that because we had too much fun! We had good ol' Guest #2 Ben Revier on the show, as well as Evan Christie, the manager for Bridgeview Liquors (one of our sponsors). In this episode we sample and review Moccasin Creek Chokecherry Wine, Goutte De Mauzac Rose Eau De Vie brandy, Transcontinental Rum Line Australia 2013 (Australian Rum), Bacardi Gran Reserva Diez (10 year) rum, Noble Oak Trinity Reserve bourbon, Little Book Chapter 4 bourbon, and Larceny Barrel Proof bourbon. Ep. 127 - Intro to Tequilas (but really part 3)
04/05/2021 Duración: 01h31minWe like to find ways to celebrate on this podcast, and Cinco De Mayo is one of those ways! The BBR crew have dived into tequilas a little bit in the past, but we do a bit more research on what it is, how and where it's made, the different kinds and requirements, and what kinds of things people have used as chasers (or training wheels in these here parts). Ep. 126 - Intro to Sherries
20/04/2021 Duración: 01h26minSherry wine. What is it, besides being a cask that some distilled spirits finish their aging in? Besides being something your grandma cooked with when she was feeling adventurous during the holidays? Sherry is a fortified wine (like port) that can be both sweet (like cream or PX) or it can be dry (fino and manzanillo). The difference being that Port gets fortified while it is fermenting (the added brandy is what stops fermentation) versus Sherries ferment completely before being fortified, so all the grape sugars get turned into alcohol. We sit down with Sean B from Bear Creek Winery to get his expertise on this style. We invite comedian Marquay on the show to round out this interesting panel, so enjoy the debauchery! In this episode we sample and review the Fino and Amontillado from La Garrocha, Delicioso Manzanilla, the Don Nuno Oloroso and Capataz Andre Deluxe Cream from Lustau, and the El Maestro Sierra Pedro Ximenez. Ep. 122 - Beer Mail from Wisconsin
23/03/2021 Duración: 56minWhat some people in the craft beer scene call a 'Porch Bomb' hit The Dungeon recently, and we had to share the wealth. A porch bomb is a shipment of brews that gets delivered to your front porch. It's usually where the delivery person leaves all your packages from amazon and whatnot, ya know? So we got these goodies courtesy of Alex, aka @beardhopsandbarley on instagram, including a very special homebrew that his 6-year-old son helped with the recipe for. We have special guests Andrew Karr (from Beer People), Don Kenna, and Blake Bushy on to join in on the bottleshare experience. Cheers from us to Hartland, WI buddy! In this episode we sample and review Badger State Brewing's Porte Des Morts coffee cocoa and maple porter, along with their Mega Mangoberry Udder Chaos Milkshake IPA, Pink Houses Blackcurrant Berliner Weisse and Imperial Set List DIPA both from Eagle Park Brewing, Strawberry Guava Shlushee from Lions Tail, and Raised Grain Brewing's Paradocs Red Imperial Red IPA. Ep. 119 - Intro to Canadian Whiskeys
02/03/2021 Duración: 01h44minThis episode here is no super soft birthday party, but it might have a Letterkenny quote or two! BBR got together with Dan Virchow, (photographer, wrestling fan, SDSU alumni) to have a proper snack of poutine before settling in for some Canadian Whiskeys. Ep. 117 - Merlots
16/02/2021 Duración: 01h11minOne of us watched the movie Sideways the other day, and hearing Paul Giamatti vocally express his distaste for Merlot wines, we decided to take that as a challenge and dive head first into some for ourselves! We invited Sean Ballinger from Bear Creek Winery over to get his expert opinion this 'controversial' style that saw a huge decrease in sales for a time thanks to that particular film. We even get our hands on some home made wine from Julie Wilson, and we couldn't be happier with this eclectic bunch we try today. In this episode we sample and review Dark Horse 2018 California Merlot, L'Agnostique French Merlot, Marco Felluga 2016 Italian Merlot, Chai De Bordes 2018 Bordeaux, Chateau Belles-Graves 2010 Grand Vin De Bordeaux, and a 2019 DeLaHunt Family Competition Wine Merlot.
