The Minnesota Vikings have one more game left. It is a contest where the Chicago Bears come to US Bank Stadium for what looks like a meaningless game. Changes are on the way for the team after another sub-.500 season. Flip Mazzi and Eric Thompson will be asking questions on those topics. One of them involves grades. The hot takes will flow. Football continues! At least for two more weeks. Your favorite team is nearing the end of the 2021 campaign, the no-excuses season. It is time to go further than any other Vikings team before it. Can they? Tonight, Flip will battle Eric for the 25th episode of Viking Hot Takes on the Climbing The Pocket channel on Thursday night. Following the usual format of the show, we put the usual 20 minutes on the clock and asked each other three questions: Flip asks 1. Grade Klint Kubiak's season. 2. Grade Mike Zimmer's Vikings. 3. What is the best-case scenario for Sunday? Eric asks 1. How do you feel about Mike Zimmer playing the starters in the final game? 2. Out of Zimmer, Sp

  • Vikings Daily SITREP - Wilf Decisions

    06/01/2022 Duración: 11min

Zygi and Mark will have some hiring decisions soon so let’s look at those. The rules for hiring an HC interested me. There is the brand-new one this year about possible interviews in weeks 17 and 18. However, the Vikes didn’t partake because the decision on Zim has yet to be made, or at least made public. I think there is a rule now that they can’t take a job until they are eliminated from the playoffs. Say they want to target Byron Leftwich. They must ask the Bucs for permission to interview him, I believe. [I may be wrong there.] Then, if the Bucs go all the way to the SB, we would not see him until the middle of February. Fans are going to want to know early, and they may get restless and agitated if their favorite candidate is being waited on. This is because they may move to team Y [like Chicago] and they miss out. There is the whole if you hire a staff soon, they may have up to a month's head start on planning for FA and the draft. You may miss out on quality for expedience. Then there is this… The qu

  • Vikings Happy Hour

    06/01/2022 Duración: 01h10min

Vikings Happy Hour is here to enjoy some Vikes football talk and a beverage or three. The Minnesota Vikings traveled across the border to play the Green Bay Packers, and it was an abysmal failure. It is the culmination of the poor decisions made by Mike Zimmer, Rick Spielman, and the entire organization. More change will be coming with Zygi and Mark Wilf already getting their ducks in a row, be it for GM and HC, in their candidate search. They’ll need to get the Vikings back to being a regular playoff team and hopefully an organization known for excellence. Before that, there is the formality of having to host a game vs the Chicago Bears.  If this season hasn’t been frustrating enough, fear ill-advised decisions ahead. Maybe not though. We’re here to talk it all through with you, the fan, so grab your favorite beverage and join the conversation! Discussion topics tonight: Intro No show in GB Is this Zim’s final game? • Vikings Daily SITREP - If Kirk Cousins Leaves

    05/01/2022 Duración: 07min

What if Kirk Cousins leaves and what does that mean for the Minnesota Vikings building a contender? Since the Vikings have signed Kirk Cousins, the team has been mediocre. Sure, other factors play into it, but as Jayson points out, the size of the money being paid to him is also a contributing influence. What do you think? Do you agree? Jayson Brown joined Producer Dave to discuss this issue briefly in a new segment that Climbing The Pocket is airing out, called Vikings Daily SITREP. In order to improve your situational awareness, we want to aggregate what is happening with the team we want to love. Fan with us!!! • Vikings Daily SITREP - Zimmer Wants The Starters

    04/01/2022 Duración: 09min

Mike Zimmer said yesterday in his press conference that he wants to start the starters if they are available. This is because the Minnesota Vikings host the Chicago Bears in what is really a meaningless game. Do you want to see that? Jayson and Dave talk about it. This is literally like an exhibition game. Some players want to put things on tape, but shouldn’t it be an opportunity to see all the younger players and see what you have entering into 2022?  Friend of the show, Luke Braun of Locked On Vikings and Locked On NFL, wrote a fantastic piece on the demise of the 2021 Vikings campaign. You can check it out at Zone Coverage here: https://zonecoverage.com/2022/minnesota-vikings-news/the-vikings-went-out-exactly-how-they-deserved-to/ Jayson Brown joined Producer Dave to discuss this issue briefly in a new segment that Climbing The Pocket is airing out, called Vikings Daily SITREP. • CTP Mondays

    04/01/2022 Duración: 01h40s

It is the Monday after an absolutely humiliating defeat in Green Bay leaves the Minnesota Vikings eliminated from the playoffs and looking for some change. The Packers with their win secured the #1 seed in the NFC, and surely the firing of Mike Zimmer for the Vikings, and maybe Rick Spielman too. It is time for a change. It is also time to look at team needs and to help see where the organization needs to go to have a new chapter in the team’s history and get on the winning track again.  Tyler and Dave will be here with you to talk about just that, and to turn your Monday Purple! Other talking points for tonight’s show:  - Overview of team needs this offseason - How does the draft match up with needs? - Was Mond a mistake? Fan with us!!! • Vikings Daily SITREP - Did Mike Zimmer Throw Kellen Mond Under the Bus?

    03/01/2022 Duración: 12min

Did Mike Zimmer throw Kellen Mond under the bus at his post-game press conference? Mike was asked if he would like to see Kellen Mond play next week vs the Chicago Bears. His answer was, “Not particularly.” Then when asked why, he responded with, “I see him every day.” Zimmer is known for blatant honesty at times, and for a coach in a business known for football lies, that can be refreshing. Was this too fay though? Could have Zimmer just said that Mond isn’t ready and leave it at that? We that Mike was emotional last night after that embarrassing and humiliating loss to the Green Bay Packers, but is this the type of organizational leadership to display to the public? Only Zygi and Mark Wilf know for sure, but to the rest of us, this is just another example of why the Mike Zimmer [and whole football operations cadre] is coming to an end. Jayson Brown joined Producer Dave to discuss this issue briefly in a new segment that Climbing The Pocket is airing out, called Vikings Daily SITREP. The goal is to aggregat

  • Vikings at Packers - CTP’s: The Final Score

    03/01/2022 Duración: 34min

Vikings at Packers. The Minnesota Vikings will attempt to sweep the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football in Lambeau and cold January night. Can they do it? Not at all. The Vikes need to win out to have a hope of making the playoffs, but this got even tougher with the loss of Kirk Cousins to the Covid-IR list. He’s not the only Vikings player out either. Starter Michael Pierce at nose tackle was ruled out. Will Armon Watts step into the start, or will Dalvin Tomlinson move to the middle? Watts started at nose tackle. It didn’t matter. Sean Mannion gets the start, meaning expect to see Dalvin Cook get a heavy run load. Will it work? Not even close. Will you join us in the final 2:00, find out, and react? We invite you to LIVE! 1) Highlights 2) Lowlights 3) Speed round and your questions 4) What’s ahead The Final Score [the name for CTP’s Postgame show] is ready for the season. • Two Old Bloggers - Vikings at Packers

    02/01/2022 Duración: 01h02min

Here we are for the most important game of the season. The Minnesota Vikings on their own have put themselves in a place where they need to win out and get help to make the playoffs and they have started with the game at Labeau Field on a frigid Sunday night in front of the world to see. Can they do it? This team has not done anything easy this campaign, and Vikings at Green Bay Packers is always a tough game made even tougher by starting quarterback, Kirk Cousins, testing positive for Covid. Backup, Sean Mannion, just coming off Covid IR gets the call instead. Do the Vikes have a chance to defeat their biggest rival on Sunday Night Football? If they do, look for it to be with the running game. This and more in this pregame show preview. Two Old Bloggers are comprised of Dave and Darren, who both started blogging on the Purple decades ago will go over a way to possibly see how this game will go and if the Vikings can win, so get ready for the Climbing The Pocket and Daily Norseman pregame show! ***This show was recorded before the news news of Kirk Cousins testing positive for Covid. The Minnesota Vikings now have to win out to keep any hope of a playoff appearance alive. Even then, they will need some help. First up is the Sunday Night Football matchup at Lambeau Field against one of the premier quarterbacks in the league, Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers. With the weather looking to be frigid, it will not be easy. Unlikely some might contend and with that an inglorious end to the season. Football continues! At least for two more weeks. Your favorite team is nearing the end of the 2021 campaign, the no-excuses season. It is time to go further than any other Vikings team before it. Can they? It wasn’t enough for your Minnesota Vikings though and now the Vikes need to win out and get help to make the playoffs. This week they need to focus on the Green Bay Packers on a frozen tundra night where the weather will be in the negative digits. Will they? The good news is that Dalvin Cook has returned from the covid list. The bad news is that Adam Thielen had season-ending surgery and was put on IR. We have another bar takeover tonight too. Jayson Brown and Jonathan Haak, from Vikings Territory and now part of Climbing The Pocket, will occupy the bar. They plan some fireworks, so grab your favorite beverage and join the conversation! • CTP Mondays

    28/12/2021 Duración: 55min

From last night's live show... Some came to play, others did not… That is sure what it felt like yesterday as your Minnesota Vikings failed to capitalize against the Los Angeles Rams. Low energy comments flew from before the game from the beat reporters and fans, then afterwards from players like Justin Jefferson, Patrick Peterson, and Anthony Barr. Then there was Kirk Cousins talking about being “safe.” It was most likely the final nail in the Mike Zimmer era. The question will be how many dominion will fall and get wiped from the table with his? • Vikings Happy Hour

    23/12/2021 Duración: 01h20min

Tonight, guest Darren “Doogie” Wolfson from channel 5 KSTP rejoins everyone for Vikings Happy Hour. He will surely have some scoop goodies to share and have an all-round good time talking your Minnesota Vikings. Join us and enjoy Christmas with Doogie Wolfson. Doogie dropped some mini-scoops like Everson Griffen not returning this year, the word behind the Bashaud Breeland dismissal, and the current thinking about change and how it may effect Mike Zimmer, Rick Spielman, and Kirk Cousins. …And more. The Vikes came off an ugly win on Monday night versus the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, and now will face the Sean McVey led Rams at US Bank Stadium on Sunday at noon. This game has playoff implications for both teams and it should be an all out affair. Can the Vikings beat this year‘s Rams? Can they win and get over .500 for the first time since the 2019 season? The answer should be possibly, but will they? With almost every game going down to the last drive this season, who knows. …And you wonder why we enjoy o

  • Vikings at Bears - CTP’s: The Final Score

    21/12/2021 Duración: 28min

Your Minnesota Vikings are looking to finally get back to .500 and stay in the playoff hunt. They will be visiting the Chicago Bears in Soldier Field on a cold December evening. What could ever go wrong there? A lot. As Vikings fans, we know that lots of things can and do on almost a yearly basis and it doesn’t matter how bad or good the Bears are. Will Kirk Cousins bounce back from one of his worst performances? Nope. Will the offense go aggressive early and stay that way? Nope. Will the difference be the depleted Bears defensive backfield? Not at all, they played well. Will the Vikings defense make Justin Fields look like a future Hall Of Fame QB? Surprising, not this time. Will Matt Nagy keep his win streak against Mike Zimmer alive and well? Not this time. Who’ll get fired first? Probably Nagy. All questions we’ll learn more about by the end of this Monday Night Football game. We will all find out with you, and will be going live in the final two minutes of the game with The Final Score. Vikings win 17-9.

  • 17/12/2021 Duración: 24min

The Minnesota Vikings are looking to get to .500 again, again, and again. This time the Vikings travel down to the Windy City to play the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football in the what has been a terrorizing location of Soldier Field. So many this have gone wrong in that stadium, no matter what version of it existed. It must be something about its location next to the lake. Covid is sweeping the league and the Bears have been hit with all of their coordinators put on the list. The team will be going against rookie QB Justin Fields, a running quarterback. You know how those can be a problem. Will Matt Nagy have his team ready, or are they quoting on him? Does this game worry you? They guys tonight are looking forward though. Hopefully the Vikings won’t. Football continues! Your favorite team has started its 2021 campaign, the no excuses season. It is time to go further than any other Vikings team before it. Can they? • CTP Mondays

    14/12/2021 Duración: 59min

It’s Monday and fans of the Minnesota Vikings is wondering why the quest for consistency is taking so freaking long with this team? Will they ever find it? Almost every game comes down to playing well one half, then like garbage for the other. If there could be a group level bipolar disorder, this team has it. [Not to minimize what Everson Griffen is going through. Get well Sack Daddy.] In the first of the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, the team was absolutely dominate, even despite Kirk Cousins being a little off. Then in the second half, communication errors and more mistakes, penalties, etc., let the Steelers make it close and almost pull off the upset if it wasn’t for good safety play. The team cannot string wins together because of the lack of consistency, and this could be disastrous as the Vikings travel to Soldier Field to meet the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. Have your antacid ready because this team will give you heartburn. Tyler and Dave will be here with you to talk ab

  • Vikings vs Steelers - CTP’s: The Final Score

    10/12/2021 Duración: 24min

Your Minnesota Vikings are now in survival mode. The problem is that the Pittsburgh Steelers are too, and they meet tonight in US Bank Stadium. The Steelers came off a big emotional win versus the Ravens. The Vikings are coming off a situation clarifying loss against the Lions. Which team will take the most advantage of that? Our Vikings, but again it was too close. The Vikes will be wearing their Primetime Purple as we all watch in anticipation. One of the anticipations will be to see how Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks get to play with the Meaty Boys, Dalvin Tomlinson and Michael Pierce in front of them for the first time since training camp. Can they, with the rest of the defense shut down and take advantage of the aging Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense? They did in the first half. Can the Vikings O-line keep Kirk Cousins from being sacked from the defense that leads the league in sacks led by TJ Watt and Cameron Hayward? They did! Can Justin Jefferson still be as effective with Adam Thielen out
