On Climbing The Pocket’s end of the game show, The Final Score, we react with you! Was that the greatest regular season football game ever? The Minnesota Vikings vs Buffalo Bills and it will be the biggest test yet for this team. It sure was and turned into the heavyweight battle of the century. The question heading into today was can the Vikings continue to improve their winning record? They did in a game that had our hearts racing. To come back from 17 points down in the 4th quarter, to almost win it in regulation but take it to overtime was amazing. Will Kirk Cousins make the difference again? When it counts. He wasn’t the only one, was he? Justin Jefferson had a monster game and a Hall of Fame catch that left no doubt he was the best wide receiver on the field. This was despite Stefon Diggs having a very productive game as well. Then Patrick Peterson sealed the dramatic win with his second interception of the day. In today’s episode of Two Old Bloggers, the Vikings are coming off winning their sixth game in a row to achieve a 7–1 record. They have a tough test this week against the Buffalo Bills. How will they do? Let’s find out. I’m sure almost everybody has seen videos of Kirk Cousins in chains [Kirko Chainz]. It was on the flight home from the game against the Washington Commanders. He took off his shirt, donned just about everybody’s ice, and danced in the aisle of the aircraft. Is this a sign of new leadership? Is this a sign that Kirk Cousins is more relaxed? Is this a sign that his teammates believe in him? Has Kevin O’Connell inspired this? Can the team keep winning if this trend continues? Speaking of Kevin O’Connell he talked about throwing 50-50 balls up to Justin Jefferson. He believes JJ will come down with those balls more often than not. The Minnesota Vikings vs Washing Commanders and it will be another test for this team. The question today is can the Vikings continue to improve their winning record on the road in Washington on one of the poorest fields in the NFL? They did. 7-1 Baby!!! Can the offense sustain and score early and often? No, but they did come back in the 4th quarter down 10 points to get the win. Can they break that 30 point mark again this week? They did not, but didn’t need to. Can a defense hold up its end of the bargain and keep Washington from scoring lots of points? They held Taylor Heinicke and his favorite receiver, Terry McLaurin to just 17 points. We used to call that the Mendoza line. 17 points and below over 95% of the time leads to a Vikings win. They need to work on the Washington Commanders first. Your Vikings are playing the Commanders and have to beat them to continue their winning streak. The Bills play the NY Jets and will have to do the same thing, but this pregame show focuses on the contest against the Commanders. Darren and Dave will be focusing on three things with the first being, does the TJ Hockenson trade make the Vikings a Super Bowl contender? The second is that the Vikings need to play better, especially at three positions: cornerback, right guard, and kicker. Cameron Dantzler, Ed Ingram, and Greg Joseph all need to improve, but the whole team does as well so that it can punch above its weight. The obvious answer is yes, they are 5-1, but do the stats reflect that? We will also be looking at what kind of offense the Minnesota Vikings generated. Do they have a new identity? We all expected a high-flying pass-heavy system, but are we getting that? That is a very good question and we’re gonna look back at last season and compare the two.
