Barry and Chester discover another incinerated body and collect a mysterious black flame from it. Later, Chester has a nightmare of the flame breaking out of the container, however soon after, the black flame actually does escape, causing Chester to fear that the flame is the ghost of his father Quincy. It manifests as him and strikes again. Cecile realizes that the flame feeding off of Chester's grief. Chester rejects the entity and it disappears. Joe returns and states that the incinerated victims were dealing with grief, and the team deduces that the black flame is a sentient entity feeding off of grief in order to survive.
