Juliane Koepcke was flying home over the Peruvian jungle with her mother on Christmas eve 1971. The airplane encountered a violent thunderstorm and was struck by lightning. The plane broke apart and Juliane fell 2.5 miles to the jungle floor below. Unbelievable she survived but wasn’t out of the woods yet, she now had the jungle to deal with.
