Denise Lindsey, volunteer with Special Olympics for many years talks story with JR De Groote, West Hawaii Today and me about the year round efforts and success of Special Olympics on the Big Island and Nationally. They continue to grow and fulfill the mission of providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Denise shares about their fundraisers, the coaching opportunities for volunteers, the organizing and participation of special Olympic athletes and families to stage the athletic events and much more. Jamie Koizumi, was the USGA Junior Amateur Champion before going on to play for Duke University. She played professionally in the US and Japan and is now Assistant Pro at Waikoloa Beach Resort.
