I have over 20 years as a specialist cardiologist and a private practice of over 10,000 patients. The podcast discusses the importance of exercise for heart health with cardiologist Dr. Jason Kaplan. Dr. Kaplan recommends at least 150-300 minutes per week of moderate exercise like walking or 75-115 minutes of vigorous interval training. He stresses finding enjoyable activities and gives advice for starting an exercise program. Weight training is also beneficial but aerobic exercise is most important for reducing blood pressure and improving heart function. Regular exercise leads to positive changes in muscles, metabolism, blood vessels, and an enlarged but stronger and more efficient heart.
