The ship is ready at the dock and the crew has been hired. Jim Hawkins meets the cook-the one-legged Long John Silver- and takes an instant liking to him.  The new Captain approaches the Squire, who has purchased the ship and hired the crew- and tells him that there are big problems with the crew- he doesn't trust most of them- and something is amiss. The squire gets angry, but the Doctor takes over, believing the Captain, and following the recommendations he is making to rearrange sleeping quarters and keep a close eye on the gunpowder and weapons,  The Squire has been talking too much- and the Captain informs him that the entire crew knows the mission and the coordinates to the treasure.
