The Red Sox scored 8 runs in the 2nd inning and the first 10 outs recorded by starting pitcher Brayan Bello were via the strikeout Tuesday night in a series-opening 12-9 win over the Oakland A's at Fenway Park. Bello gave up 2 runs in the first inning, but also struck out 3 in his first inning of work. The A's lead was short-lived. Jarren Duran led off the home first with a double and he scored on an RBI single by David Hamilton. Tyler O'Neill's double put runners at 2nd & 3rd and both runners scored on a 2-run single by Rafael Devers. Joey Estes retired the next 3 batters and Devers was stranded at 2nd-base. Bello again struck out 3 in the 2nd inning, but he did end up stranding 2 runners in scoring position. Dominic Smith led off the home second with a walk and scored from first-base on a triple down the right-field line off the bat of Ceddanne Rafaela.
