In high school he formed his first band "The Pizzarinos" with Jerry Jeff Walker (known for writing "Mr. Bojangles" and others) and Larry Santos (writer of "Sherry" for the Four Seasons and commercial jingles "Folgers in your cup" and "All Aboard Amtrak").
