Frank Baum is known as one of the greatest fantasy authors of the twentieth century. His works included what some would call today young adult novels and stories in the same mold as Alice in Wonderland or The Wind in the Willows. His most famous novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, had thirteen sequels and also was the inspiration for the Victor Fleming classic 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz. After numerous attempts to make further adaptations, Disney took up the reigns with a property that in all ways seems to fit with their image. Released in March of 2013 was the Sam Ramie directed film, Oz the Great and Powerful, starring James Franco, Rachel Weiss, Mila Kumis, and Rachel Williams.
