But with its plot of a crazed killer dressed in a Santa Claus outfit, outrage by religious and parent groups caused a backlash. Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert even called it one of the most despicable films in history. Due to the uproar, the film was pulled from theaters, yet years later it has become one of the most beloved slasher films of all time. With genre favorite Linnea Quigley part of the cast, the film even has a second reason to remain a staple for horror fans. But interestingly, the movie is much more than your typical slasher.
