A wisecracking parrot (Dean Thomas) caged in a research lab tells his life story to a lonely janitor (Ash Gardner). Before coming to the science lab, he has passed through the hands of a succession of owners, from a petty criminal (Jack Charles) to a man who runs a parrot-dancing act. Touched by his colourful story, the janitor conspires to liberate the talking bird.
