Meet Melvin Deal, a native Washingtonian, national/international icon, dancer, teacher, spirtual guide, and more. Melvin Deal has been instructing African dance and drumming in Washington, DC for over 30 years and is the Founding Artistic Director of The African Heritage Dancers and Drummers.  Deal is the recipient of many prestigious awards, among which includes: The Washington's "Living Legends" Award, 1980, "Washingtonian of the Year,1981",  "Baltimore's" Great Blacks In Wax Award", and many others.
