Chapter 3: The Catalans Dante visits Mercedes and finds her in the company of Fernand Mondego, who loves her and leaves in a rage after she embraces Dantes passionately. Soon after,Fernand meets Danglars and Catarousse, and Danglers says he has a plan to get dantes out of the way.
