The Red Sox opened up their 125th season in Major League Baseball with a 5-2 victory over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Wilyer Abreu hit a 3-run Home Run in the top of the 9th inning to break a 2-2 tie. It was his 2nd Home Run of the game and 2nd career 2 Home Run game with both coming in Arlington.-----Crochet Debut: Garrett Crochet made his Red Sox debut and make his 2nd consecutive Opening Day start on Wednesday. Crochet went the 1st 5 Innings and gave up 2 Earned Runs on 5 Hits. He walked 2 and struck out 4 and took a no-decision. -----Rookie Debut: Kristian Campbell made his MLB debut in front of friends and family for the Red Sox. Campbell went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk.
