The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a .6% jump in the consumer price index last month. That puts the annual rate at a 13-year high of 5%. The core inflation rate, which excludes food and energy, also jumped .7% to a 29-year high of 3.8%. The Federal Reserve has assured Americans that these price increases are the result of a fast economic recovery, and will only be temporary.
