Jeanne Martin was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age ten, in the 1950s. Technology was very different back then, of course, but so was the medical community's reaction. Jeanne was told she would never have children and if she did, she wouldn't live to see her children grow up. Today, Jeanne not only has a daughter, she's also a grandmother.
