Scream is 21 years old and we look back at the highs and lows of the series in the first Franchise and Lows. Writer Kevin Williamson combined Dawson’s Creek with Crystal Lake, and roped in veteran horror director Wes Craven to create a ground breaking, crowd pleasing chiller. It revolutionised the horror movie and you could argue that the genre exists in a pre- and post-Scream era. It went on to spawn 3 sequels, not to mention an almost totally unrelated TV series. As we’re examining all 4 movies, there’s plenty to (Edvard) munch over. But which one of them is the absolute worst? Is Wes Craven so good at directing he could do another instalment posthumously?
