Pat's mind was the Dance of the Seven Veils featured in Tom Robbins' novel, Skinny Legs and All. With each veil dropped, another truth is revealed. When the fourth veil dropped, a Robbins character reflects that “longing for the Divine is intrinsic in Homo sapiens. . . enlarging our souls and lighting up our brains. . . Religion is nothing but institutionalized mysticism. The catch is, mysticism does not lend itself to institutionalization.” Does organized religion and/or Unitarian Universalism help to broaden or diminish the mystical impulse?
