After the tragic event at Mercy Hospital in November 2018 that led to the death of 3 individuals "Officer Jimenez, Dr. Tamara O'Neal & pharmacy resident Dayna Less", the ACP released a position paper titled "Reducing Firearm Injuries and Deaths in the United States: A Position Paper From the American College of Physicians".
