Infidelity is complicated for so many reasons. Many people can’t even agree on what cheating really is. If you got a lap dance at a club, is that cheating? If you flirted with a stranger at the grocery store, is that cheating? If you watched porn, is that cheating? There are a lot of statistics about cheating available online and, unfortunately, a lot of the numbers are self-reported so their accuracy isn’t exactly guaranteed. I found one piece in the New York Times that said, “…national surveys indicate that 15% of married women and 25% of married men have had extramarital affairs. The incidence is about 20% higher when emotional and sexual relationships without intercourse are included.” That’s a lot of cheating! When it comes to infidelity, you can bury your head in the sand if you choose but, with those odds, there’s a good chance you’re going to encounter it in a relationship. Then what?
