Sinopsis

From the wise age of 8, Isabel Hovey saw people living on the streets of Panama from her mom’s air conditioned car and refused to accept that some people just live in poverty, so she’s devoted her life to trying to help solve this problem. Join us for our fifth episode as we chat through Isabel’s identity of ‘otherness,’ and how she leveraged this as a strength to help communities build more effective and empowering educational policies and institutions. From Peace Corps service in El Salvador to being one of the two people of color on the board of a local non-profit, Isabel shares her experiences, her values, her wisdom, and her laughter. - Want to join the Peace Corps? https://www.peacecorps.gov/ - An important perspective on the US and El Salvador’s history: https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2018/01/trump-and-el-salvador/550955/ - Interested in getting involved with your local YMCA chapter?
