People have deceptive lifestyles supported by fictitious beliefs because they don't understand how to be realistic. These people don't think problematically. They think with their facades and their superficial confidence. Understand that superficial confidence comes in many different forms. See nowadays parents talk down on creativeness, I dropped out of high school and decided to do my own thing in life. They set me up by ridiculing me with projected criticism.
