In major league baseball this offseason, we have seen a flurry of moves that have defied the trends of the last several years. Specifically, several MLB teams have shown a willingness to spend heavily this offseason on free agents, when in the past they have not. However, the question remains as to whether or not being a high roller on your team payroll equates to wins on the field, in particular wins of the championships type.
