Learning how to make the Proverbs alive is hard... especially when the word of God seems enigmatic..meaning hard to interpret..lol...but in the second phase of Proverbs with King Solomon, we learn that many of the Proverbs are not for us RIGHT at this moment. Meaning not everything we read is going to bring forth great revelation, but in time it will make sense. Either from our own experiences we will be able to apply Proverbs or even from the experiences of others.
