Proverbs 11:3 The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. Proverbs 11:6 The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, but the unfaithful will be caught by their lust. The Hebrew word translated “upright” means “to be straight.” Proverbs 11:20 Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the LORD…. The word translated “perverse” means “crooked or distorted.” So on the one hand we have people who are described as straight and on the other hand people who are described as crooked. This is because, above all else, people are identified by their character.
