When I went to college we were all required to take a class called, "Marriage and Family Life". The college knew that many were going to college not just for an education, but they were going to find a marriage partner at school. So we were all required to learn what we were going to get into. Once you say, "I Do", life changes, but in most of our lives we are not prepared for what is going to happen. As a Mediator I hear the stories of people's lives who have gone through the marriage process and it didn't work, they got separated or divorced, have children, and now they have to mediate the process of a failed marriage. Most people when they are planning to get married they don't think about the issues that happen in marriage and family life after you say, "I Do". Clergy have got to do a better job in their marriage practices within their churches, better prepare people about marriage and family life before and after the marriage ceremony.
