A few more days it will be Thanksgiving. Remember what this is all about. People in Europe were being oppressed by government, by rulers. They were being over taxed, told what religion to follow, what they could and could not do. They were oppressed in all aspects of their lives. They built houses and communities. They built relationships with the native Indians, sometimes there were problems, but they learned how to plant corn through the Indians. At the end of the harvest the Pilgrims and the Indians sat down and gave thanks. The lesson is to remember that this country was born by escaping government oppression.
