The modern idea of marriage as being about romance, companionship and registering for new dishes at Macy’s, didn’t emerge until the last couple of centuries. As society’s goals and structure changed over time, its rules and expectations of marriage evolved along with them. Now, marriage seems to be at a brand new crossroads. A recent study revealed that remarkable transformations in relationships have occurred over the past several decades. 20% of adults have engaged in some form of consensual non-monogamy and the public’s interest in polyamory is clearly on the rise. Despite the allure of sex with numerous groovy partners with no retribution, creating a successful, ethically non-monogamous relationship has an extremely high degree of diffi
