Dr. Timothy Cross '76 returned to campus to discuss the pharmaceutical industry, as part of the "Science for the Greater Good" series at Trinity. Dr. Cross is the Director of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Program at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at Florida State University. Between 2-3 million people worldwide die each year from tuberculosis, and 36,000 in America alone die from complications of the flu. As Director of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Program, Dr. Tim Cross has taken up the fight to rid the world of these killers. “We're working on two sets of proteins that have the potential of being important for the pharmaceutical industry and mankind,” he says. “A few anti-influenza virus drugs are on the market, but they have serious side effects.
