Upon entering Dan's Bloody Bucket Saloon, he meets one Chain Carrigan -- a small Irishman wearing a derby hat who is known as the "cat man." It is Chain's intention to travel to Deadwood and sell his collection of 62 cats in order to rid the town of rats. Kendall decides to ride along with Carrigan and along the way discovers the Irishman is a bit of a con man -- resulting in a series of adventures as they travel to Deadwood on a wagon loaded down with crates of cats.
