As today is 8/24, Mamba day, it is only right that we celebrate an individual who captivated the world through his grit, determination and relentless work ethic. The numbers 8 and 24 were on one of the most prolific NBA players to have graced the court, Kobe Bryant. Beyond basketball, he was a transcendent who helped to transform his community in a multitude of ways from coaching his daughter's AAU team to writing a screenplay which he won an Oscar for. On this episode, we talk about the impact Kobe had on on the world and in particular on us. We discuss how his death curated an environment for people of all ages, demographics, creeds to come together and recognize the meaning of love and adoration. Nonetheless, we also talk about how his death shifted a narrative about how black men mourn. Is it ok to be emotionally vulnerable and admit your feelings? We discuss how fatherhood was such a important component of his life and how it impacted my guest, Jamal in his own role as a father of two beautiful children.
