The story follows a young Chinese American teenager Lily Hu as feelings for her classmate Kathleen Miller begin to blossom and Lily is introduced to queer culture at The Telegraph Club. It's also the 1950's and Red-Scare paranoia is at it's peak; being queer in America isn't safe, and Lily's father could be facing deportation for not selling out a young man to the FBI for suspicion of Communism.
